Econ 7 on single rate. Companies List.
I've been searching for a list of companies who let econ 7 meters use a single rate. So far the comments I have found have been wrong when researched into. IF YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY USED AN ECON 7 METER ON SINGLE RATE. PLEASE ADD THE COMPANY NAME. Thanks. Hopefully a list like this will help a lot of MSE'ers. 😊:money:

What makes you think a new thread will be any more reliable?
If you know any posts are wrong in that thread, feel free to reply there to assist others.
I suggest you contact a supplier you are interested in directly and ask them.
Only a few will do so, and of those, the majority will need you to contact them directly to confirm you want to pay the same full rate all day.
Better still, ask your supplier to change your meter to a single rate one
(a charge may apply, so do ask)0 -
 I tried several different permutations for the search for this. No success - Hence the new thread. Thanks for the link.... Hoping that MSE energy club will pick this up as a good list to have - Getting fed up of not getting responses from energy companies when I ask.0

Check the latest Eco 7 rates with a comp site and run through two checks to see any differences for the years total prices with Eco 7 and single rate. You may be surprised to see little differences with the lowest priced Eco 7 suppliers.
Even single rate tariffs most people will use at least 10% to 15% in the cheap 7 hours night rate which in summer will be from 1.30 am to 8.30 am if the time switch is spot on.
Last month I did a check and the Eco 7 rates with I think it was Symbio Energy was beating the lowest single rate.. Its not a given that single rate beats Eco 7 and why should it ?0 -
The need to change is due to lifestyle changes meaning more electricity is used during the day than before. So we are looking at our % use over night dropping below the 15% mark, the single rate is much more attractive as the rates are lower than the E7 day rates - some of the prices quoted are several pence dearer than others.
As an aside. The daily rate is a factor that a lot of people ignore but is hugely different between companies. (often <\>10p!) Low DR + High Kwh = Higher bills for us.
Trying to find companies who supply a single rate to E7 customers is tedious at best. Most don't even bother to respond and those that do are usually unhelpful.0 -
Ask them to change your meter then.0

A quick look on the comp sites reveals there is nt much in it with the lowest priced electricity supplier Symbio Energy.
Their Eco 7 rates are very close to each other , eg in my area 12.92 p/ day-10.2 p/kwh night + 20 p DSC.
.at 15% night rate usage there`s a £30 a year gain to have single rate with this supplier over a total of 5200 kwhs
. This would lower and be beaten if the night rate could be bumped up to over 20% and used more, eg showers, washing , irons etc used in the cheap rate time.0 -

Far too abstract, sorry.
Surely as an MSer of 10+ years membership here, you should be looking to maximise your use of cheap, low rate electricity, as opposed to minimising it (without increasing the overall consumption)
Anyway, let's get down to the nitty gritty; the real data.
What annual consumption figures are you anticipating, and what is your supply region?0 -

I agree the user should be trying to maximise low rate usage (as I posted above)
But if the user is unable or unwilling to do so, I remember a recent post on the Symbio feedback thread that stated that Symbio would be prepared to charge at a single flat rate for those on an E7 meter if the customer so requests.

This all assumes that Symbio will be the cheapest supplier for the poster; something we cannot say until they post the information I requested above0 -
Current:
Electricity Day Unit Rate:
15.939p per kWh
Electricity Night Unit Rate:
7.5915p per kWh
Standing charge
20.4435p per day (£74.62 per year)
Mse club best (single rate):
Unit rate
11.621p per kWh (Approx.15pD&10pN on E7)
Standing charge
23.303p per day
5300kwh per annum.
We would pay a lot more looking at our rising bills if we stayed on E7. Day time use/evening use has gone up - night time use has gone down. Showers are mains not electric. Heating is Oil not electric. hot water is oil not electric. I would like to be able to do a washing day rather than having to remember to do a nightly wash/tumble, as this fits with the work patterns in our house. We would not use the dishwasher - washer - tumble over night on a SR tariff.
Having a list of companies who do E7 SR would be helpful - What would be better is Ofgem making all suppliers offer one. I have written to Ofgem asking what is the best way to raise this and who best to talk to.0 -

EnergyRookie has already complained that you are posting too abstractly, and I'm afraid you still are.
You seem to have failed to post the details asked for, and the absolute minimum necessary to assist you in any meaningful way. I wonder why that might be?
Anyway, I'll keep this short as a result.
Using the London supply region (picked at random), and using your assumed annual consumption of 5300kWh per year, and assuming 15% of that is used during the low rate period:
The cheapest supplier for I can find for you would be Symbio Energy on their E7 tariff
Annual cost: £645.32
Day: 11.400 pence per kWh
Night: 9.685 pence per kWh
15.000 pence per day
The cheapest supplier on a single rate tariff I can find would also be Symbio Energy
Annual cost: £661.06
11.440 pence per kWh*
15.000 pence per day
(*Note how this single rate is actually more than the normal rate on E7 ; actually on the directly comparable tariff to the E7 one, it's actually even higher @ 11.445 pence per kWh. DSC is constant)
If you want to pay the extra £15.74 that the single rate tariff would cost you per year, then the post above suggests that Symbio would be willing to take that extra money off you if you ask them.
By contrast, the single rate tariff you have posted the cost details of (but have not specified who it is from) would set you back over £700 per year :eek:0
