Why not ask your local Fire Brigade for advice as it exactly this kind of thing they are clued up about.
Totally agree. They are a death trap. Even if there are extra fire escape doors at ground and first floor, the fact that they are PVC means that if a fire starts on the outside they will combust and after the glass shatters who knows what that would do to any inhabitants who happen to be in the house.0
