Principles/Santander - but Should I also complain to Genworth now? (Because of the deadline)

I had store cards (Debenhams, Principles, New Look, Dorothy Perkins) when I was barely an adult approx 1998.
Today, I found out on the phone from Santander that my Principles account from 1998 had PPI. Therefore I have today sent off a complaint to Santander about that PPI.
However, I have been reading about the fact that in the event that Santander reject, The FCA cannot help me as they can't help with store cards from that era.
Should I try to complain to anyone else (NewDay?) or the underwriters Genworth NOW in addition to Santander - or are you not allowed to complain to both at the same time? Im just worried about how long Santander take to respond and then if rejected, I will be too late to complain elsewhere. Thanks

If Santander have taken responsibility for investigating the complaint then you complain to them only0

Thank you . Not sure they have taken responsibility for it , they just told me I had PPI on that account. Do you know What happens then if they turn down my complaint please?0

From your answer, I am not sure if you have the adequate knowledge on this subject, so not sure whether it is worth carrying on with my question? I came on this forum as I believed there would be many knowledgeable folk about this subject and my query was more specific than I can find elsewhere on the internet.
From what I have read of other peoples experience, no - Santander saying no - that would NOT necessarily be the end of the story.
As I believed it was possible in most cases to pursue with The FCA or if not them, try the underwriter -Genworth. That is what my question is based on... I am trying to determine if there are any other companies which I should make the same complaint to before the deadline.. in the event that Santander does not accept my complaint.0 -

The time for pursuing complex PPI complaints has long passed..
Sorry if my knowledge of this subject is not up to your expectation of this forum...0 -
If Santander reject you, then you can complain to GE. You can complain to them anyway if you like. The trouble with catalogues is that it's a minefield due to the sale usually not being regulated and no one wants to take liability for them. Santander has historically both accepted and denied liability at different times and i have no idea which one they're currently doing.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

You don’t need to do anything until you get your final response from Santander, unless all the above were separate cards in which case you’d have to complain individually before the 29th August.
If Santander reject your complaint you can then refer to FOS who will ask you for the name of the underwriter, who is Financial Insurance Company Ltd, now Axa CLP. You will probably have to fill in another form for FOS and let them investigate. It shouldn’t matter if this takes place after 29th as long as your original complaint to Santander is made before 29th, but to be on the safe side give FOS a call for advice on this point.0 -

Mine is 1998 so that's what brought me onto wondering if I should also complain to the underwriter myself before the deadline.0 -
