I remember finding BBC iPlayer impossibly stuttery on a relatives brand new PC, found Avast preinstalled hogging CPU, removed, enabled MS Security Essentials (free) streaming now smooth.

Forgot when last years AV was posted when I started free 1year Norton subs (with i3 laptop)
Yesterday that Norton subs has expired.
Yes it is gong to cost, though it did cover both win10 laptop+iOS devices iphone/iPad +Android Mon Sony xa1or2
And a password reminder which was useful.
Is there any other multiple platform free AV's available -29.99 to renew Norton.

Look online - you'll probably be able to buy a new key for cheaper than the £29.99 renewal.

But it apparently doesn't update, because it appears again in a few days. Does it need updating or not?

Is it the same update, or just the latest DAT files?

I'm using Windows Defender on my laptop, running W10, and it regularly says it needs updating. Tick the update box, goes to updating page, click update, and dots appear, but also the word Dismiss.

It updates generally daily and sometimes 3 times in one day. Go into Windows Update > View update history > Definition Updates and see if it is updating correctly.

Complete waste of time - money - cpu power - stress levels and device memory

You DO NOT NEED any AV on any Phone or tablet.
    It is completely useless

You are basically paying 29 squid for a password reminder and a slower computer :rotfl:
