I will look at wooden pegs. I've avoided them so far as I remember my mother's awful pegs that marked the laundry. I suppose that could be avoided by not using them in dampish weather, but would they still be ok on damp laundry??? Must do!!!!

Definitely not. Wooden pegs must only be used on laundry that is already dry.

I've just slimmed down my peg bag and it's the wooden ones that have been put aside to give away, because of the problem of wood pegs staining washing. It seems to happen if the washing gets caught in the rain and the pegs get wet.

It's one area where I'm choosing man made over natural. However I reckon I have enough plastic pegs to see me out.

Good old fashioned wooden pegs are cheap as chips, no strike that out, at £1 a pack they're cheaper than chips! I don't even care if the odd one breaks, go on treat yourself, buy two packs!

Am I the only one here who uses stainless steel pegs?

When I say "I" use them, I mean, of course, that my wife has them. To be honest, I'm not too clear about "doing the washing," or even how to light the gas under the dolly tub, as it involves grovelling on the ground in the wash house.....

Anyway, they appear to be very strong, and I've not picked any broken ones out of the shrubbery in at least 3 years. More than I can say for the plastic jobbies.
