You've never owned a BMW then?0 -
Wow ok its a skoda octavia, but the question is about my rights more than advice on the car repair - two separate and knowledgeable sources have confirmed that this is a known fault with these.0

I've answered on age and what the problem is already.0

...not sure why this would / should be a recurring problem? Not aware of any major problems with Skoda diesels other than those covered by dieselgate, (ie DPF's?), but perhaps I am missing something?
I would also think unlikely you could return the car as I think you have to give them the option to "fix it first", which it appears has been done under under the warranty..(at least for now?)0 -

Apparently on this particular model it is an issue and they could go as often as every 3wks!!
So. I have to live with this i guess.0 -

If it fails again (especially for the same reason) then the seller has already had their one chance at making the goods conform to contract. Therefore you'd be legally able to reject the car for a refund (final right to reject per the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Any refund could be reduced to account for your time of ownership.0 -
