Hi we need help regarding being refused to open a bank account, my partner is having trouble opening a bank account the banks say that they do not have to tell us why but it looks like someone else with his name and date of birth is involved.

This is true.the banks say that they do not have to tell us why
In the context of refusal to disclose reason for rejection, how have you concluded this? There will be many occurrences of duplicate names and dates of birth so uniquely identifying individuals must also encompass other data attributes, address being the most obvious one.it looks like someone else with his name and date of birth is involved
Has he checked the state of his credit files with all three credit rating agencies? These would indicate any potential red flags as far as rating his credit is concerned.
Does he already have one or more accounts? Any credit products? Any problematic debt history? UK resident for multiple years? On the electoral roll? Earning a regular income? etc, etc
Has he tried applying for basic accounts? These will be offered to many who wouldn't otherwise qualify for more mainstream products....0 -
How would applying for a basic bank account help if the problem lies with confirming the applicant's identity?Has he tried applying for basic accounts? I agree that it wouldn't, but the key word there is 'if' - it would be pretty extraordinary for a bank to reject an application saying that they had no obligation to disclose a reason but that it looks like someone else with his name and date of birth is involved, so it would seem that there's more to this one than meets the eye! But yes, getting to the bottom of the current situation obviously takes precedence over any further actions, which I should perhaps have made clearer in my post....How would applying for a basic bank account help if the problem lies with confirming the applicant's identity?0 -
Is it worth the OP/partner logging a Suject Access Request with CYFAS, to see if anything more dubious has been recorded against them?Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

OP has your partner ever had financial difficulties?
Ever been part of any fraud investigations?
Ever had an incentive from anybody to let them pay money into any previous accounts?0 -

Is the address he is using for the bank application the same as the address he is registered with in Experian? Is he on the Electoral Roll at the same address? Where has he banked since June 2015?0
