O2 Refresh Tariff Rip-Off

Pass the word around please----steer clear of O2 Mobile Phones Services!

Just signed up 3 days ago, after being reassured by not one, but two overseas-based O2 call-centre LiveChat agents that O2's Pay-Monthly Refresh Tariff Contract could be cancelled anytime within a 14-Day 'cooling off' Period. Guess what? It's a complete fib even despite a Doncaster-based CS person confirming that this Pay Monthly Refresh Tariff can be cancelled within that 14-day period, and only a pro-rata charge, i.e. date up to when this Contract was cancelled, would be made. A pure outright lie!

Because, just now, an O2 CS person based in Leeds has just stated that their own call-centre agents(India) and that Doncaster-based CS person, gave out duff info, because O2 will make a Rip-Off charge of £31 even if that Contract is cancelled within 3 days of a 14-Day cooling-off period!!! So, beware O2 lies!

  • Whether this applies to both instore and online agreements I don't know.
You did, of course check all this before signing up?

What exactly are they charging you for? Minutes/texts/data used?

It is entirely possible to cancel a Refresh contract in the first 14 days (at least if bought online, I haven’t checked the terms for signing in store). I know of a number of people who sign up to refresh and then immediately cancel the airtime component at zero cost (having made no chargeable use of the sim) as a way to get a cheaper handset.

Yep, it’s a common trick often discussed on HUKD.
