cheap energy club - switch in progress

geezzz
So I can't see other (better) deals for 3 months? +
I guess this is a way CEC ensures it gets its cash from the energy company.
I think I'll avoid switching thru CEC in future!
At least uswitch has a button to press on the app to say it has gone thru.0 -
You can see better deals on the CEC while the legend, "Switch in Progress" is visible. It is still there because your new supplier has not got around to telling MSE your switch has completed. They do tell you at the outset it takes 3-6 months to get your cash back.
When you log into the CEC and see the "Welcome Back" page, it should say, "You currently have one switch in progress" then there's a blue button saying, "Compare other tariffs". Click on that to see what else is available.0 -
Cashback from any site always takes a while to go through.
You can update your CEC details at any time.
You can also see any better deals at Citizens Advice which shows all suppliers.0 -
Did that newbies post get deleted ? (SamGrundy)
My concern is that it compares deals using my old tariff not my current one.
I’m not concerned with the length of time for cash back
I just wondered the method? Cheque from cec? Or?0 -

OK, now it's my turn to say geeeez. I have just tried to do exactly this, edit my details in the flippin' CEC, and every time I click on "Edit Details", it takes me back to the log in screen. Is it me or is the CEC broken, does anyone know?
TIA.
ETA: Gosh darn it. Ignore my previous post, AndyPK, it seems the newbie was right. Apparently we cannot edit our tariff details until our new suppliers tell MSE we have switched after all. PITA! You can, however, compare deals, and see your new tariff rates at the top of the screen; you will just have to do your own sums until they get around to updating your account.
Apologies for my mistake.0 -

The cheapest providers seldom pay cashback, that's how they can afford to be cheap !0 -
I have not switched supplier since we moved here seven years ago until last month. I have switched tariffs within nPower through the CEC every year so know about the cash back. Those swine make you pay exit fees to switch to another of their tariffs if you are in contract; not cool.0

I did once try to move to a smaller supplier, but realised how bad the telephone que's were. (like 1 hour! and short office hours). They eventually folded.
I'm switching to EDF. Although they weren't cheap in March when I left them, they have had some good deals over the summer.
Not driven by the cash back, but some of the good deals with EDF are not available direct to EDF !
I or my parents have been using EDF over the past 3 years (switching at a minimum yearly). So I know good and bad points.0 -
I seriously considered EDF but was put off by the fact they don't want meter readings more than twice a year or they start billing in real time, defeating the whole point of fixed DDs and they refuse to speak to any customer on an online tariff; you have to chat.
I never thought I would say this but nPower are rising in my estimation all the time. Their customer service may not be the best but it leaves BG's and EDF's in the shade... And Eon's, so far, Malc and Helena excepted and where are they?0
