Jumilla Spanish property deposit reclaim

Hello, I'm new to this and looking for some advice.
A family member of mine put a large deposit down on a house in Spain in 2007/2008. The banks failed to issue a guarantee before the crash of 2008, meaning they lost the deposit and the home they had paid for was never built (they have Checked) it was in a place called Jumilla.
A recent ruling has meant that they are now entitled to get their money back plus interest under rule 57/68. Every solicitor they have gone to regarding this had wanted them to pay extortionate amounts of the claim is successful.
I'm appealing to anyone who is/has been in a simular situation. Have you had any luck? Is there anyway you can claim the money without the need of solicitors like the PPI scandal?
Please let me know, anything is appreciated.

Rule 57/68 is Spanish law so if they are trying to go through UK solicitors I'm not surprised they want a big cut. Might be better to deal with Spanish solicitors. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
They have been through 2 Spanish solicitors so far who have both wanted in the region of 40% of the money won.0

But if you think about it - they have nothing now ... so getting 60% back is better than nothing ... they will also have interest to add.
Is there a specialist forum for this kind of thing?

Yes i see your point, this is the route they will have no choice to go down if there is nothing else. But as with the ppi scandal people had the choice to do it themselves, just wondering if there's anyone who has been successful in that, of alternatively they could recommend a solicitor etc.0

Haven't found a forum regarding it so far, there were over half a million people affected!0

This sounds like a simple no win no fee offer. Your relative could simply employ a Spanish solicitor on an hourly rate and take the risk themselves in the hope they get something back and their solicitors fees are less than 40% of their return.Signature on holiday for two weeks0

I think you are comparing apples and pears, claiming back PPI is a very simple process, this will not be."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I lived in Spain for 10 years till a few years ago.
There is a very informative forum I used then, and occasionally still do now.
Although it mostly deals with Andalucia, they do also cover other parts of Spain sometimes.
There are several helful and knowledgeable forum members who may be able point you in the right direction.
