selling food past sell by date

The purpose of compensation (in a contractual context as opposed to as personal injury) is to put the party at a loss into a position they would have been had the contract concluded successfully. Had you noticed after purchase food was past it's use by date you could pursue for a refund plus costs incurred, e.g. fuel/travel expenses.
No sale, no contract, no compensation. Whilst kind of on the subject, you can't sue/seek compensation for what might happen there needs to be an actual loss.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0
