Vodafone broadband contract query

Options
Hi, looking for some advice. We moved in to a rental property while our house sold and I took out an eighteen month contract with Vodafone for broadband and explained we would be moving.
I had no end of issues and spent hours on the phone as the broadband didn’t work well at all in the small three bedroom house but Vodafone told me the speed in to the house was as they promised and from that point onward they weren’t responsible. They told me to try extenders so I did and they didn’t help; we had no signal upstairs and I had to use my mobile data (Vodafone).
Anyway then after six months we moved in to our new house and I called to change it but was told I would have to take out a new 18 month policy! This infuriates me as the broadband is god awful and they have not been helpful or understanding and I’ve wasted hours on the phone to them so for them to extend the hell for an extra six months is unfathomable.
I have paid £100+ to get out of it now.

Are they allowed to do that and extend the contract as I was under the impression you couldn’t be penalised for a house move?

I'm afraid your impression was wrong, although not all companies do this (Sky and presumably NowTV for instance).

You're talking about internal WiFi being poor, presuming the speed at the router was acceptable. ISPs don't like supporting WiFi issues as the variables within each house are too many.

Be aware that you may well have the same issues with any ISP although BT (again, just for instance) claim to have very good WiFi performance. An ISP that allows you to use your own (better but more expensive) router would probably solve your issues (again, it's possible with Sky & NowTV for starters).

Since you've now paid them off, check online for the best WiFi performance from ISP supplied routers (I'll leave you to do that).

The house move costs as the ISP money as they have to cease your service at the old address then reprovision and set it up at the new address. They incur a fee from the engineers to set it up again so most ISPs will absorb this fee as long as you enter a new contract. Other ISP's will instead charge you this installation fee.

Is it wifi signal being poor to which make it slow?
Or the speed coming in is slow?

    Do you have a laptop?
Plug it with a cat cable to the router to do a speed test.

If you get a good speed with plug in, it is the problem of weak wifi. All you need is powerline adaptor with wifi or mesh wifi.
