Are any of these suitable for a 9 year old boy? They didn't have any yesterday but said stock would be coming in last night and tonight. So I might go again tomorrow morning. The little matchbox type of cars at 24p are a brilliant buy.

Would think they were ideal for a 9 year old.

Maypole, Birmingham had lots of Power Rangers with light up shields for £2.49, great for presents. Some Transformers £2.49 and a lot of pink nonsense (but i don't go there!)
Will be trying some others tomorrow, great spot!

Booo... I'm in London, so most of the Sainsburys round here are "Local" ones (i.e. overpriced, understocked!). Sent dad off to a bigger store, they had very few toys anyway, less than 2m of shelf space, and none of the games I'd had my eye on. Phoned another store which wasn't a local and asked them if they stocked toys& games, lovely SA said no, so I asked which would be the nearest Sainsburys which did, she put me through to their customer services, where I spent 10mins trying to explain to the woman that I was after the nearest store with board games...

Her: "store? we don't do store..."
Me: "um, no, which store, which branch of sainsburys, sells board games"
    Her: "door?"
Me: "no, which Sainsburys, the other lady said you didn't have board games, i want to know which is the nearest Sainsburys that does"
Her: "you want me to check if we do board games?"
Me: "no... well the other lady said you didn't..?"
Her: "i check, i check... which you want?"
... so i tell her a list, and have to spell monopoly, cranium and trivial pursuit ("no, trivial pursuit is one game, not two.."). Ten mins later she calls me back and reports they do Monopoly (original, not Here&Now) but not in stock, and that other games they don't do  gave up then! lol

  • Went to the Warrington store this morning to chech this out. The toy section is really small, 1 aisle, but they had loads of stock and were putting stuff out when I was there. Came out with
    Dr who figures x 2, 2.99 each,
    friction Travis 2.49
    toy story car 3.99
    box kid k'nex 4.99
    transformer 2.49

Plenty of toys today at the Cheshire Oaks / Ellesmere Port store. While I was there they were busy restocking the shelves. Sadly no ITNG toys.
