Can anyone help? I’m trying to get life cover for my husband - he had two separate instances of cancer that were dealt with surgically with no other intervention needed. I’m struggling to find anyone who will offer cover. Anyone else been successful? Many thanks 🤓

You will need to find a good broker to help you.
When was your husband's last surgery? How long between the two operations? Were they the same type of cancer? How long until your husband will be deemed to be cancer-free? (I know you said surgery only, but there is still a time limit eg 5 years).
All of the above information will be the reasons why you are struggling, there may even be an exclusion for any further cancer occurrence.
Maybe one of the mortgage brokers who deal with life insurance may be able to comment in the morning.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.0 -
There are specialist providers that cater for this market. However, it will not be cheap and they are normally only available via IFAs or a whole of market protection adviser.0

If I'm honest, having 2 separate occurrences of cancer will make it far harder to arrange cover than just one. The main factors are as follows:
The grade and staging of the cancer - this is often a TNM reading which indicates the size of the tumour, whether there was any lymph node involvement and whether it has metastasized to any other area.
The time since the treatment (in this case the surgery).
The locations of the tumour
Normally insurance premiums following cancer are loaded on a "per mille" basis. This means for every £1,000 of cover a certain number of £'s cost are added per year (or pence per month). This is normally temporary and after a number of year this will reduce. For example £100,000 of cover with an £8 per mille loading adds £66.67 onto the monthly premium (best case) but in reality can add up to £105 onto the monthly cost depending on the insurer.
You really need to discus this with a specialist insurance broker.0 -

How old is he?
Would one of the over 50s no questions asked policies work for him?0 -
I think these are only the "scams" that "cover" funeral costs, not real life insurances, paying out specific amounts.
I think your wrong. They are not scams they are proper financial product companies regulated by the financial conduct authority.
In a lot of cases they do not provide good value (please be careful in your use of the word scam as I believe it’s an incorrect use).
But for some people they might be a good (or only) option.
They are not limited to funeral insurance.0 -

Totally NOT a scam and will cover an amount you choose, not just funeral costs, although the maximum sum assured is normally quite low and they are normally the option of last resort if an ordinary, medically underwritten policy is available. Definitely not a scam though.0
