  • Hi jupitercrash,

I did some research online and found a preloved bridal shop that sell dresses on behalf of the bride and take a cut of the amount they sell it for.

Even though my wedding was only two months ago yesterday i knew even though i love it i wont ever bother looking at it again because i have the photos/videos so i went for it.

  • Thought i would provide a quick update:

I made £4 on surveys today which isn't huge, but once comfirmed i will have enough to cash out £5 to pay to the Lloyds credit card.

I had a no spend day today which is also positive, and also my minimum payment of £37 to Lloyds will be going out tomorrow. Its all small steps to getting it gone.

I also just wanted to list my latest achievements to remind myself how far ive come so far:
    1. Quit smoking
2 Cancelled gym membership at £26 per month & bought a second hand exercise bike for £25 which i use everyday
    3. Paid of Virgin credit card which has given me £26 extra a month in my bank from its minimum payment
    4. Starting a savings buffer for emergencies & xmas - have £100 so far.

  • Managed to cash out £5 85 from surveys today which i paid to Lloyd's.

    I will update figures later.

I ordered a case for my phone which cost £2.20 from Ebay as my old one broke and i didnt replace it, but my contract ends in November and i plan to go sim only to cut my bill right down. So need to look after my phone .

One luxury i do have is getting my eyebrows done, i over plucked them as a teen and looked permanently confused.
So i wont give that up but my lady cancelled tonight and cant get another appointment till next month so have saved £25.

Guess where that £25 is going now? Yep Lloyds :)

  • Totals summary:

    Lloyds credit card: £3,671.83

    Total overall debt: £8669.35

I was unable to pay the £25 off tonight the website said something about reaching my limit so i will do it tomorrow !

I was supposed to be going to a concert at the 02 london next weekend but decided it was going to cost a lot for us to stay up there just for one night - so i have sold the tickets for face value. So in the next 2 weeks i have my £100 ticket value coming back :)

    More money to Lloyds! :)

Ha! We're in a very similar boat. I can't bear to part with my hairdresser as I am horrendously bad at colouring my own hair but I know I can't really afford it. I've also been married for about 2 months, had to save jointly with my DH so didn't have money to service my debts. I have to say it's so nice for it to be over and to be able to sort my life out.

My wedding dress is stuffed under my bed, hem full of mud.

  • Hi Fudgefund :)

Lovely to meet someone in a similar situation to me!! Have the wedding blues set in for you? I spent the last 2 and a half years planning so feel a bit lost now.

I am happy though to have money now that i can sort my finances out with!

My dress was so dirty underneath, but somehow not ripped or damaged which is a miracle :rotfl: its amazing what the dry cleaners did it came back immaculate like the first day i wore it!

Wishing you luck on your debt free journey! I think we all have our limits and mine is my eyebrows - no way could i stop that!

  • £25 paid to credit card :)

Today is going to be a no spend day, but worried about tomorrow as we are out all the day for football which usually means drinking all day.

I will be going but i dont know how i am going to do it on as strict budget as possible.

No wedding blues for me, I found the whole thing really stressful! I just kept saying to myself “think how good you’ll feel the day after”. I also felt totally out of control of my finances (because I was).

I just now feel I can sort everything out without this enormous thing hanging over me. I’m sure most brides don’t feel that way though. :o
You’ve inspired me to get my dress dry cleaned before the mud sets in! Must list my underskirt and veil on eBay as well.

I know it’s hard but having a few soft drinks in lieu of alcohol really does save a lot of money. I tell people i’m on a bit of a health kick.:And

  • Thanks Fudgefund.
I realise now i need to change my thought process because before i would go out and think oh well whatever i spend i spend, but now i think it can go to credit card.

I had really mixed feelings i was sad it was over because the day was so amazing, but i also found the whole planning process stressful as we were watching budget all the time because we saved half each for it. So for that part im glad its over!

Yes its worth it, if you can get anything back now for it then do it because in years to come if you decide too it will be harder to sell.

Saying that though i havent heard from the dress shop so they havent sold mine yet, just hope it eventually does :)

  • Thought it was time to update. Work has been crazy hence my delay in posting. 11 hour days for over a week now so i have been shattered.

But today i paid another £30 to Lloyds. Brings the total to £3613.83. Payday on Friday and i will be paying £300 to it :) Also hoping to have £40 left just before Friday so will put £20 to savings and £20 to Lloyds.

Im trying to build some savings at the same time for things like my husbands husband's birthday and Christmas, have £140 so far but not too bad as I have only just started.

I sold a concert ticket and £100 is coming back to me within the next 9 days, im going to put that to savings as really need something behind me for emergencies.
