Hi so I've been with EE since may last year but moved home in December, I stayed with EE and being so long ago I dont remember the phone call exactly but I got discounts for moving with them but the plan stayed the same, I dont remember any cancellation fee being discussed (although I'm guessing it's in the long speech they read once you agree). However Ive decided to leave them and went back on my email just to be sure of any fees, nothing is mentioned at all, one my original joining email from may 2018 it clearly states 'If you cancel before the end of your contract, you'll be charged a cancellation fee.' But on my moving home email it doesnt, my online account doesnt go that far back and when I rang to ask for a copy of the contract I was told they dont even have access to that as it's over 6 month and they dont have the call recorded either. Now I have no issue paying the charge if I have to but surely this is all a bit dodgy when they dont even keep a copy of customer contracts? is it worth making a complaint attaching everything in hope of at least a discount or will I be wasting my time?

Yes exit fee is normal if you break a valid contract .
However its not a fee to exit but a payment of the remaining months of your lawful contract .0 -
Chances are when you moved in December , you started a new minimum term contract at your new address, so the earlier date in May becomes irrelevant, obviously if you hadn’t taken their home mover offer , or they didn’t have a home mover process to offer you , then you would have been liable at that point for early termination charges, after all it was your decision to move home, thus breaking the terms of the original deal, offering you the same terms at the new address , penalty free ( as far as ETC’s are concerned ) is something they didn’t have to do, EE expecting you to start a new minimum term as the ‘price’ of this offer doesn’t seem unreasonable to me, and it’s pretty much the way all providers deal with people who move home before the end of a minimum term.
If December 2019 is when you become free of the ‘new’ minimum term, hanging on till then seems the way to go, even if some new provider is offering a brilliant , but time limited deal if you switch now , chances are in December, someone will be offering a similar deal0
