It sounds as though the OP had their debit card linked to their Google account and the person managed to bypass the security on their device (phone tablet whatever) and used their Google account to buy something worth £450

The OP then complain to Tesco that it wasn't them and immediately closed all Tesco accounts

Tesco have investigated and come back and said they believe it was the OP who made the purchase and that the story was a pack of lies hence the fraud marker

Doesn't Google ask you for the CVV number before autofilling your payment details though? I seem to remember it does.

I dislike judging a book and all that, but the way the OP has explained this and the fact they've acted how they've had, I'd go to say the OP blew the money for rent on something, and then tried to reclaim the money.

When the bank said they were going to pass it for full investigation this spooked the OP, as they already knew what this could unearth, and therefore requested to close the account in a vain attempt to cover their tracks and hope the bank would stop any investigation.

When this proved a no go also, they've gone to open a new account and therefore believed it went through.
I suspect they knew very well why the Barclays bank account had been shut down.

OP, you've clearly committed an act of fraud and its people like you who try and find loopholes to get away with it, that means people like us have to be counted when genuine fraud is reported.

Furthermore, Action Fraud wouldnt have told you then are trying to trace or locate the person you have accused, they'd need evidence before they could even ask them in for a voluntary interview.
That being said, AF don't trace people, they'd have passed it onto another force local to any suspect.

I'd say you've been reading lots online, and some of what you've said is true some isn't.

The bottom line here is don't poo on your own doorstep, or burn your b9rdges when you don't have another one to cross on.

Now, you'll probably have to wait till the CIFAS marker drops off.
I warn you now, if you kick too much a stink up, itll be the authorities banging on your door.

Suck it up and deal with it.

You might get lucky and be able to open a Cashplus account, meaning you'll have an account for now, but forget high street banks for a while now.

Okay well I will reply to their final response letter, and if that provides no joy, I will continue forward to CIFAS etc for mediation .. Thanks

Why not go to the police? (I don't mean Action Fraud).

I have already said I am not interested in the money as I accept responsibility for that

At the time you wrote this, you hadn't said anything of the sort - unless I missed it in your brief opening post.

This is what you actually said.

So when you later said this

    I became even more confused.

Never mind, I believe you, shakejake, when you say you didn't do it. In fact I don't think anyone did anything.

Assuming this is genuine, you may want to read this thread.

It shows just how difficult it can be to remove a cifas marker, but also shows the level of proof a company needs before they place one.
