I usually find the crucial element is how high the chair will go.

at 6' 3" most won't go high enough for me to be posturaly correct and at near 18 stone (ex amateur rugby player), most aren't rated for my weight either

To be honest - its a personal thing, as long as its comfortable and achieves correct position/posture that's the main thing

  • I've never had a particuarly expensive one, which is probably where I'm going wrong. Every one I've had, I never got on with. I'd prefer a decent office chair these days. Maybe I'm just getting old.
  • While I am not interested in gaming chair but do wonder what difference it makes. I am glad I read people's views on it.
    Nothing more than a gimmick.

Feels like mattress, Tempur is well known for back pain support, but overpriced. Now we have other brands that does the job.
So same can be applied to gaming chairs, office chairs can do the same job as gaming chair: to make people comfortable.
  • I did buy a gaming chair but I really don't think they are worth the prices being charged for them.
These guys did a good video on office chairs vs gaming chairs which I found interesting.

I'm going to buy a new chair, so I'm glad that I've found this discussion. To be honest, I thought about choosing an office chair, but having read about gaming chairs, I became confused. I understand that gaming chairs are created for a long sitting in front of a PC. But if I choose one of them, should it be an expensive one? Does the price play role here?

In my opinion - to a point.

With gaming chairs you may be paying for a “name” and also features you may not need

With some office chairs you may be paying over the odds based on the assumption that the company is paying.

Personally I would avoid full leather but also avoid “bonded” leather - it will just end up peeling.

Depending on your height, weight, required usage, features and levels of adjustability then cost may/may not be relevant

You need to consider the room allotment for it. Gaming chair are kinda big and it should be proportionate to your table height, lest you also slouch if the table is too small or low. I use one currently and my back has been hurting but I have no other choice. Hahahahaha.

I recommend going for it, they are much more comfortable and, if you have the room, can make a big difference if you play for long hours
