Holiday Search Help

Hello Guys - (i'm looking for some help/advice/tips from the savvy holiday searchers please)......

I have a few days off at the end of July (we are restricted to these dates only due to work).
So - we are looking to book a short holiday Leaving on Friday 23rd August and returning home Wednesday 28th August. A 5 night break.

We would prefer Self Catering, something with a nice pool for the little one - and we are prioritising cost.
There are 2 Adults and one child (our child is 4 years old).
We live at Rotherham - so ideally flying from Doncaster, Leeds or East Midlands.

Due to the fact we are only going for a short break it is essential we get a morning flight on Friday 23rd as we don't want to lose our first day travelling - we would also like a flight home around mid day on the Wednesday if possible.

We are open to anywhere in Spain, Greece / Europe - the main factor is somewhere not too far - so that we can be in our resort on the Friday Afternoon as early as possible.

We dont mind if self catering, b+b, all inclusive etc.

Is it better to do the Sky scanner thing, book flights only, then hop onto somewhere like trivago and get you own accomodation - or is it better to check out the Jet2 deals and try get a deal with a free child place (Jet2 often seem quite well priced flying from Leeds)

I have checked out the Tui deals and they were very expensive and most flights were from Manchester.

So to recap heres our criteria -

2 Adults, 1 Child (4 year old).
5 night break - going Friday 23rd August (needs to be morning flight) and return home Wednesday 28th August (prefer afternoon mid day).
Location - anywhere Europe, prefer Spain or Greece - would be nice somewhere family friendly with a bit to do on an evening
Fly from Doncaster, Leeds or East Midland.
Board Basis - Any, out accomodation needs a nice pool for little one.

Thanks Nick

Greece is probably going to be too far.

You need to be at airport 2 hours before, presumably you dont want to wake your kid up too early so looking at about 9/10am flight? Depending where in greece youll be looking at 3.5-5 hour flight time. An hour at the airport the other end then 30mins to an hours transfer times and its mid afternoon before youre at the hotel at the earliest.

East coast of Spain is about the 2.5-3 hr mark.

Id personally recommend looking at the south of france, Cote d Azur (french riviera). Which will bring flight times below 2.5hrs but definitely get you in the holiday sun. Id imagine it would be more of a tailored holiday than a package. Theres loads of static sites along that coast with brilliant facilities for young kids, places like eurocamp.

Try going to the website of your chosen airport and look at departures around the time you want to leave and see who goes where at what time, and how long the flight takes.

When you've seen a flight you like, have a look for hotels or flights+hotels to go with your choice.

Don't know if any of them offer flights to Portugal but an advantage of Portugal is that it's in the same time zone as here and it has some nice places.
