Just realised I possibly had 3 NSDs in a row! I say "possibly" as it depends what you count as a NSD. Sunday and yesterday were definite NSDs, whereas Monday I made a CC (which I don't normally count) and paid for a class - as it's something I go to every Monday it's a "scheduled" spend, so unsure whether or not it counts!
In bigger news I've been accepted for another 0% credit card! Didn't want to apply sooner as applied for one in August which is when I got the MBNA card. Just waiting for confirmation of how much I've been accepted for, but hoping it will clear or almost clear the Vcard which is currently at 18.33%!!! The indicative amount was £4,000 and I currently have £4,422.83 on it. Anything left on the Vcard will be attacked once I've cleared Bcard (hopefully this month!)
Although, I've just realised I may have an issue with this plan in that I think I'll need the card details to do a balance transfer and I have no idea where the card is as I've never used it! (Yes it was a balance transfer card which I then didn't clear!) Ok, so I'm shuffling off to order a new card so that I can actually put this plan into action!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
GRRR! Just to make it more difficult I hadn't updated my mobile number with Virgin (changed in Nov) and because they have to send you a verification code to request a new card, I now have to wait until they respond to confirm my phone number has been updated!!!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Well done on the NSD's (they count in my book!) and the 0% card!
Annoying with Virgin, ive done the exact same thing before, so frustrating!
Any news on the lodger turning up? I think your being very nice, his stuff would be in my front drive if it was me haha
Keep going you are doing amazingly xxMy debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0 -
Thanks Iwantanewlife! Well the lodger texted on Friday that he would be round on Sunday so I didn't start clearing out the room and then he didn't show up and I haven't heard anything! Although I haven't responded to any of his messages so maybe it's my fault - it's just I believe in having face to face conversations or at the very least over the phone! I'm clearly annoyed so any text I send won't be the friendliest!
Managed to order a new Vcard which should take a few days to turn up. However, not too bothered as I need the paperwork/ confirmation of amount from M&S so can't do anything yet anyway! Also, still waiting on the payment from onepoll - not sure how long that normally takes but I'm getting impatient! Want this debt gone! (Obviously not that £40 will clear it!!!)
Today looks like it might be another NSD!!!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
So two big bits of news today!
1) I have cleared Bcard!*
2) Total debt is now in the 11s!!!
*So whilst I say I have "cleared" Bcard, there is still a bit outstanding from OHs spending spree last month, so technically the balance isn't at zero. However, I told him last night that it must be cleared this month before interest is added, and also reminded him that this is part of the reason why the debt exists in the first place - he starts with every intention of clearing and then life distracts him and it never happens! I will not the same happen this time though and it will be cleared!
Because he is faltering in his efforts slightly at the moment, and because I'm impatient and refuse to miss my target by another month, I transferred some money I had set aside to clear it. It was money I'd saved towards work in the garden which we'd planned to do this summer but then something cropped up which meant it didn't happen. Hopefully next summer though! I've still got some savings left but maybe I'll use it to clear Vcard depending on the amount of the balance transfer I get accepted for. In any event, Vcard is my next target!
Need to check what my previous goals were and maybe set some more! Even though I didn't achieve the goal to clear Bcard by end of Sept, it really made me focused! Think the next goal was to get below £10k by the end of the year so will definitely need some smaller milestone goals so I don't feel too disheartened with the long slog.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00

Well done Twiggy! Another milestone completed! xMy debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0

Thanks! Feels good to be down into another bracket!
I cashed out £6.19 from Prolific this morning, so I've paid that off Vcard. I've actually been notified about this account as being "persistent", so feel very good about starting to work on this one. Hoping I'll get confirmation of the amount I've been accepted for the balance transfer soon! That should then take a good chunk off this one but obviously that isn't the same as getting it paid off! But it will reduce the interest I've been paying which will help get it all gone quicker!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Finally received the £40 from OnePoll so that has been paid straight off the Vcard! Also received my replacement card so I've been able to set up Vcard app to make it easier to make payments (rather than having to log in on the website). However, still waiting for paperwork from M&S including confirmation of how much I can transfer! Find it very frustrating and slightly odd compared to other banks where they don't even tell you what you've been accepted for! Feel like I'm missing something but have double/ triple checked the emails I have received!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Ooops, I've been awol a few days!
My balance transfer has finally all gone through! Fee was £111.15 but will save more than that in interest so good in the long run!
So that means that my debt breakdown looks as follows:
Next - £0
Bcard - £0
Vcard - £331.99 (18.33% interest)
Hcard - £4,541.40 (4.94% interest)
MBNA - £3,038.00 (0% interest)
M&S - £4,000.00 (0% interest)
TOTAL - £11,911.39
I'm having one of those "I haven't made as much progress as I'd like" type days. But actually not only has the debt total reduced by just over £1,500, the amount of future interest I saved myself! Wish I knew a way to work it out! None of the two new balance transfer cards will remain when the interest free rate expires! That's a promise I'm making to myself!
Short term goal for November will be to try and clear what's left on Vcard!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
