Mixed bag to report today...
The good:
* The light for our tortoises "broke" but instead of instantly buying a new one, I decided to try the fuse first and it worked! So money saved there!
* I completed some power of attorney forms for my FIL and he paid me £140 for doing it! Tried to refuse but he insisted as said he would have paid someone else to complete anyway! I've put the money aside in case I made any mistakes and need to pay to re-submit the forms for now though.
* I've cashed out £5 on Shoppix and £6.56 from PA (which will go into my emergency fund)
* Not money but my OH laid our lawn yesterday!!! So excited about this!!!
The bad:
* I used my CC to buy us a takeaway last night. My justification was that by the time OH finished the garden is was gone 9 and he was knackered and I knew he would love a pizza, However, I can't afford it and shouldn't have done it!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)1 -
I've been feeling all out of sorts and out of control this month. The reason - I hadn't been keeping on top of my spending spreadsheet and there was money in the wrong accounts (where I'd bought personal and food at the same time on one card - whereas these are in separate accounts). But this morning I have spent an hour going through my receipts, updating my spreadsheet and moving money around. As a result I can see exactly where I am and feel so much better! I thought I'd overspent (and hence my avoidance of my spreadsheet!) but actually I'm ok for the month.
I think this combined with the fact I'm concerned I may get furloughed (we're really quiet and two have already been furloughed, leaving just me and the two bosses) has been really stressing me out. But it's amazing what a difference it makes just by updating my spreadsheet and I feel so much more in control! Of course it isn't ideal if I get furloughed but it looks as though OH may be able to go back to work next week - although I very much doubt it will be full time. Plus he may get his payout from the government scheme for the self-employed within the next few weeks. Therefore it won't have the same impact as if I was furloughed from the start.
I've also made all my CC minimum payments, which again helps paint the picture in my mind that I am in control of everything. Still over the 10K mark due to the bits I paid out for on the garden - but given how much more relaxing my garden now feels, I think it was worth it. Emergency fund is also nearly at the £200 mark - which has been helped by a few payouts from receipt apps/ prolific.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00

Hey @twiggy86 just commenting to send positive vibes! This situation is so tough and the anxiety attached with the unknown can be really hard, so it's totally understandable. Great on organising your spending spreadsheet and making minimum payments, they are definitely wins! Hope you feel more positive soon 💪☀️
