I would take them if you were local to me, but as you don't want to put them on the likes of Freecycle, I don't know you have them.

    Seems a no-brainer.

Your scrap/clearance guys are fibbing; they just aren't worth their time and diesel.

Hi Dave, I'm going to have to resort to social media because no-one's interested in them locally.
  • Shame you don't want to put them on social media - when we were searching for a couple of pallets for a home project, we couldn't find any without having to go to a trader and paying for them.

I've just done it, let's see what happens !

Well, what's wrong with that? When I put loft insulation on Freegle, I met two nice people who had stingy landlords and nothing stopping the heat leaving their property via the loft.

I met each one once and never heard or saw them again, but otherwise, if I'd gone to the [STRIKE]tip[/STRIKE] recycling centre, it would have cost me £100+ to dispose.

I don't really count Freegle etc as social media, as it's not like Faceache and the rest in the way it operates.
  • Yes, faceache is the one I didn't want to put it on.
Thanks to you, persuading me (:p ), I did put it somewhere and ….. someone in the same village as me looked there and hey presto …….

There's always someone. I collect pallets and break them for kindling and burning (some corner blocks can be a decent size). If you do make sure you only burn the HT (heat treated) ones. That was after I used some to make some wood stores. I've just come back from my allotment that I signed for only today and could do with some to make a compost bin.

So anyone else chancing on this thread, don't worry, someone will have them.

Back in the day I had a Futon I made out of large pallets
More recently made a very nice spade/fork/hoe/etc rack out of one using tool hanging brackets from screwfix

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

In addition to the ideas above - we have a book called Build It! With Pallets by Joe Jacobs, The Good Life Press. It contains 21 projects for indoors and outdoors. Extremely MSE!!
Pallets can be obtained or disposed of on your local Freecycle/Freegle
