The local council is running a very badly advertised move to close a road and change traffic, so its shunted from a few streets into the surrounding streets which are already jammed.
I use the car as little as possible, but being a carer, lacking in time and resources and someone who helps out locals as much as I can, I do have to use it regularly. These changes will mean that I along with many others will spend so much more time in traffic and waste precious time as well.
Does anyone know anything about equalities law etc. so we can challenge this effectively. It really will clog up roads and it seems so unfair that the many will be hard hit by the few doing this.
We also have so many new build high blocks going up and the council are considering closing roads. Its totally bonkers. In such challenging circumstances, the new blocks should not have been given permission to have cars. If anyone knows any legislation I can quote please do let us know.

I can't think what sort of "equalities law" would apply in these circumstances. Presumably the changes are being made for a reason. Improving air quality? Improving traffic flow? Making walking/cycling safer? What's the reason behind the changes?0

The reason is to cherry pick some streets and reducing traffic thru them to stop traffic on them. The Main road is completely clogged and due to get worse with thousands of new build flats. It seems that the air of those who have houses is more precious than those living in the existing surrounding flats and houses which are generally of lesser value. We are all in this together with a huge amount of traffic made worse by closure of Hammersmith Bridge. Its obscene that they would cherry pick a few streets. Our lives and time is just as valuable as anyone else's.Flying Donkeys- Do no harm to others and you will benefit in more ways than one.0

If there's a formal consultation running, voice your views on that. If you've missed it, speak to your local councillor.0

Definitely NIMBY, doesn't matter who's air is polluted so long as it isn't the OP's.0

Reads to me as if the OP wants to keep on driving and polluting in "their" streets rather than pollute and clog the main road- more like an IMBY than a NIMBYI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Thanks for positive help. This is about a few at the expense of the many. My y neighbours would be as unhappy if I was proposing dumping more traffic in their streets. The key is electric/hybrid traffic, incentivising commuters, mums and school kids out of cars.Flying Donkeys- Do no harm to others and you will benefit in more ways than one.0

Good luck with that!
The problem is that you live in an area where lots of other people want to live. It is inevitable that schemes aimed at coping with growth will affect some people more than others.0 -
