Phone now needed for Santander online account access.

Very interesting. I liked one of the readers comments that suggested that customers may start to return to the high street because of this. Time will tell.........0 -
Santander have done me a favour in that I have already in the past few days moved a significant sum which was languishing in a savings account linked to their current account earning 0.35% - I've now found a new home for this paying more than three times as much. I'm probably going to move my current account to Lloyds as the landline option will suit me.0

If only I could use my phone to receive a text code like I've been doing for the past 15 years with Google, but I'm stuck with first direct which have made a total abortion of their security methods. Tried 52725272526 times unsuccessfully to adopt their new security and now seriously looking at alternative banksIf I ruled the world.......0

The only Santander savings account that is linked (i.e. pre-reqs) a Santander current account is their monthly saver which pays 2.5% AER (3% on already existing ones).....moved a significant sum which was languishing in a savings account linked to their current account earning 0.35%....
Hope you found the account that pays over 4 times as much, i.e. 1.5%. How about regular savers? Can you tie up at least some of your money for 12 months? You can get 5% AER in several places......I've now found a new home for this paying more than three times as much....0 -

What is 52725272526?
I am using the FD app and not noticed any different login requirements.0 -

That's how many times they've tried to adopt their new security. I think they should give it another go!0 -
I myself own a mobile phone and have a current account with Santander so I don’t have a problem when it comes to codes but every other bank I am with you can use your telephone number to authorise payments etc. I think the majority of banks will end up doing this because the majority of people use mobile phones. I have been with most banks and have to say that Santander are the most awkward for there OTP system. But I couldn’t see myself closing my current account and savings with them due to there good interest rates.0

I didn't know Santander has good interest rates?0

A full fat 123 can still be a good option for those who want, or need, to hold larger sums of money in a current account. There is also the Monthly Saver, which pays 3% to existing MS account holders, and 2.5% to new applicants. Again, this may be a good option for those who have maxed all the higher rate regular savers.I didn't know Santander has good interest rates?0 -
It's not only Santander that wants a mobile!
I couldn't register with HSBC reward CC without a mobile as it sent me an authentication code.
What a pain
My mobile is strictly phone breakdown (except no reception when I really needed it last week!) and airport / port pick ups.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
