This is a tough thread to post, mainly because I am incredibly stubborn and really do not wish to give these scam artists my money.
Unfortunately, I am a student and struggling to deal with the stress of going to court and dealing with the paperwork it brings. I am already up to my eyeballs in paperwork as it is (military court case and my degree work).
My decision was refused by POPLA, and I have just recieved my first "legal" letter from Premier Park Ltd/PP Legal.
I simply do not have the time to carry on. I do not wish to pay the £150+ they have instructed me to pay, but would be happy to send them a reasonable offer to settle it. Has anyone attempted this before, or have any advice on structuring the letter?
I have also failed to find any information regarding PP Legal, this appears to be a new company that Premier Park is using.

You can try but they will want the full amount, remember you are dealing with scammers0 -
The only offer they will accept is the full amount. At this stage there is nothing to be gained by paying. You may as well see if they issue papers.
If they do then as a bare minimum you can object to their "add on" charges. You can apply to have it struck out as abuse of process or failing that have the amount reduced. You can do this on papers only if absolutely necessary.
Caving at this point really is the worst option0 -

That may be a route I will have to go down. I understand it is not ideal and goes against everything this group stands for, however, my work will suffer as well as my ongoing court case. Plus, I'm finding the help in this forum hard to follow, I am just constantly reading bulk paragraphs and statutes. I don't have the knowledge to defend myself. It's a shame as I honestly believe I am in the right, my only defence is for signage, but I don't feel comfortable defending myself against someone who knows what they are talking about.0 -

But court is a lottery - for all parties. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

More often than not, advocates fielded by PPCs at court only receive the paperwork the night before and are pretty clueless when it comes to arguing the case. Some are rather hapless saps.
But court is a lottery - for all parties.
That's reassuring to know, I get a feeling I will be completely lost when they start quoting and referencing legislation.0 -
Everyone is asked to read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread
A thread telling us you are throwing in the towel is pointless unless you just want some motivation to fight it!
Spend some time learning about this in the FAQ
You are in the wait and see debt collector stage
You can safely ignore debt collectors
If you get Court correspondence or a lbcca then come back at that time for advice on how to deal with this
They have 6 years to start legal proceedings against you0 -

You will be amazed at how little legislation you need to know. You only need a basic understanding too.
This is worst case scenario. They may never issue papers.0 -

Thanks for the reply, however, in my opinion, it isn't a pointless thread. I was asking for advice on how to formulate a letter to come to an agreement. This is briefly touched upon in the Newbie FAQ. However, It dosn't go into much detail. I also wanted to know if anyone else has gone down this route and what the outcome was.
I have a large and substantial court case against the British Army, in front of me now is over 500 pages of medical and legal documents, add my degree, and I am drowning in paperwork.
As much I hate to throw in the towel, I have weighed up the pros and cons. And £180 is a small price to pay to save me from being even more overwhelmed. Giving up isn't a sign of weakness, I have prioritised my own health over the money. However, as a student £180 is a lot, so I would like to negioate and settle.
On the other hand, I wasn't aware proceedings can take up to 6 years. This would give me plenty of time to sort everything out. So fighting may still be an option.0 -
Hey, don't be ashamed about considering giving up. None of us know the exact situation you find yourself in.
The current challenges sound like an intensive but nonetheless rather useful preparation for the modern professional workplace and life in general! Hang on in there.
If you do decide to continuing fighting the parking charge you'd get great support and direction from the experienced regulars here. But whatever you decide, good luck!0
