Private Plate when buying

I assumed the OP was getting the car in 2 days time, and would get a 69 plate- I appear to be still living in the 20th century when the change was August 1st

But your suggestion is valid if the insurance co will sting you for the change.
I remember my parents once came to visit with a new (second-hand) car still bearing the previous owners private plate and the original plates in the boot waiting to be told when to switch it over.I need to think of something new here...0
