    Wow.

Of course there are some un-likeable ones, as there is in all areas of life. When selling and buying last year both estate agents were fine, and the one I was selling with were very helpful in moving the sale along.

Estate agents sell houses, no matter what is wrong with them. If they can get away without telling you something they will.
I will refrain from making comments about what bears do in the woods and simply refer the honourable member to my answer in post 15. :)

You say it like it's a new thing LOL. You do realise EAs have had a bad rep for decades? I remember EA digs/jokes back in the '80s.

I have encountered a few REALLY good ones. But most really aren't that great. Some are keen, some tell you anything they think you want to hear, some are clueless and don't read anything about the property they're about to show you around, some are Kevin/Perry clones who just sort of grunt, sigh, and look at their watch/phone, and then you have the older ones who sometimes seem to have a God complex and talk to you like you're 12.

Maybe I've just been unlucky lol. The best ones have always been in or around their 30s in my experience.

Sincere apologies to the EAs on here - the fact they're interested in property and on a property forum seems to imply they're not 'your usual...'. In my defence, I'd love to have got into the business myself. Wonder what people would have made of me... :rotfl:
Any industry where people are going to be paid on commission is going to be a bit salesman-ish. It's just the nature of the job. Some are good at it, others not so. And it must be a nightmare dealing with the public. So many timewasters. Can you imagine being keen and getting someone who says what they want but says no to everything you show them or pulls out of a few purchases. I'd lose patience! Trouble is, people think it's an easy job that anyone can do. It's not. To me, it just often seems that the wrong person has been given the job. You need to be a certain type - not just someone who doesn't know what they want to do, with no interest or understanding of property, who's just ended up in the role.

Tenant fee ban should hurt some of them, they will have to spend more time talking deluded sellers down if they want to "put food on the table" now?
