Smart parking fine at fantasy island

Apologies if this has been posted before...

I have had a letter/parking fine through the post from a smart parking company.
My problem is it was addressed wrong and so went to the wrong house on my street.
A lady I know happened to be there and saw it so gave it to me, she said more have gone there and been thrown away.
Also we still have access to the ticket that was paid for on the day of the "offence" the photo shows the car entering and leaving the car park but it is wrong as it shows it entering half an hour after the ticket was bought. The car could well have gone in and out of the car park a couple of times so I'm guessing it's taken a photo of the second time the driver went in.
The only reason I can think that we have a charge is because the parking prices constantly change per hour depending on whether its low/mid/high season and it was read wrong. Driver thought 3 hours were put on at £1 per hour but it seems like it may have been £2 per hour on that date. If we go by the parking ticket driver was just over 2 hours if we go by the fine letter it was just over an hour and a half.

So my question is, do we ignore this as it was addressed wrong or do we contest it which I guess will redirect any old ones we haven't got to us too??

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving

You need to edit your OP to remove details of who was driving

The ppcs monitor this forum and can use posts in your thread against you in Court
  • I had a quick flick through it but couldn't find anything on my exact situation re wrong address and wrong times so I was looking for some more personal advice.

    It is not a fine.

    Do not ignore it.

Edit your post to remove information about who was driving. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper. Parking scammers read these fora.

Do you know why it has been addressed incorrectly? Is the address on the V5 correct? This is most important as it could result in a real penalty charge of £1000 from the DVLA.

If the V5 details are correct and it is Not-so-Smart who have addressed it incorrectly, complain to the DVLA and the BPA as it is an abuse of your personal data in accordance with the GDPR.
The neighbour who received the invoices should also complain that they are being given someone else's personal data.

You should also complain to the landowner about the parking scam, and that your personal data is being abused by their contractor, making both parties liable.

You should also complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

The faq needs more than a quick flick through

Spend some time learning about the game you are now caught up in

You will see that your specifics don't matter to the process set out there

until we know exact dates we can not say if its to late to ignore / appeal.

Why is the mail going to wrong address ? what does your log book/v5 say ?

Not updating such can bring on a real fine from the nice people at DVLA.

this is probably 'double dipping' do a forum search

HOW TO USE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION:

Use the Forum Jump button (one near the top and one near the bottom of this page) to get back to the forum thread list. Just above the threads, on the right, is a heading along a line, next to forum tools, called 'Search this Forum'. Put your key word(s) in and change the default search from 'Show Threads' to 'Show Posts'.

make sure you keep all tickets, and while following the good advice previously given do the research and collate any proof to prove the above.

    good luck

They correctly used the name and address provided by the DVLA where the vehicle is registered to unless they had user error by transcribing the details incorrectly

It's only the wrong address if you moved and didnt inform the DVLA like should have been done, so don't blame the PPC for your own mistakes, the DVLA can fine you £1000 for failing to inform them, same with the driving licence too (unless it's a typo on their part ?)

A landowner cancellation is best which the newbies thread says should always be done
