i would avoid even talking to them about whether it's possible and leave them to work!! they will need to put a lot of hours in!! it's possible, but clearly not ideal!

Depends on their length. If they are all around 1500-2000 words.

Yes. Easily. If you know the topics writing 2000 words is a breeze.

Speaking from my own experience, yes, it is possible, but only if you are the type of person who thrives on pressure. As an example:-

If it was Monday and my deadline was Friday, and I knew I had four essays to do that week (and, as a sideline, whoever said writing one essay in two days was nigh on impossible, I studied at Cambridge and four essays a week was standard) there is no way on gods earth that I could have written four essays over Monday and Tuesday. But if I started on Thursday I could easily get all four done, as the approaching deadline provides the motivation.

Of course, not everyone works like me, but I find that it works for me. I'd advise your friend to do their best.

  • I'm a bit concerned this is a post-graduate we're talking about! Unless it's a PGCE, s/he's either self-funding, in which case not doing the work is daft, or funded by a Research Council or Uni. award in which case failing is potentially serious for a future career.

I'd be supportive until the essays are done and then give them a bit of a talking-to!

  • First of all, can't she go and make up some rubbish excuse to go and get an extension, failing that, tell her to get plenty of water and snacks, and a couple packets of Pro-Plus. Tell her to stay off forums/MSN and just fire on with it - quality won't be the best but it is certainly doable, get her to keep all the material seperate for each essay and to just do each one on its own, I'd suggest doing the hardest one first as once thats out the road, then the rest will feel like a breeze.

If you're nearby, you could maybe help her out with welcome distractions and snacks when she's needing a break, and you could also help her by checking over her references as for a lot of people, thats where a lot of marks can be lost...

Wow, there's no way I could do 4 essays in two days! I don't think I could do one in that time.

Mind, I don't thrive on stress - my brain just packs in when put under too much pressure!

I'd say keep them fed and watered and offer to proof read and type up references as someone has said.

Good luck to them but they really do need to get better organised in future - leaving it this late has got to be dicing with failure, surely?

Let us know if they pull it off, although getting them done won't necessarily mean they will have passed I suppose.

Firstly, ignoring the stupidity of leaving it so late. I once returned to university for a new term and realised I had to have two reports in by the next day. So I sat up all night getting on with it (sat in the empty engineering building) and came up with 2 half decent results. Something like 70% each. Considering that to reach 85% I used to put loads of effort in. Luckily I had the basic material ready.

Anyway, if the essays will score, say, even 50% when shoved together that's still better than the 0% for not doing them. If they are going to be written on a computer then I'd recommend doing something for all four first and the go around improving the essays/adding bits. Start by writing the shortest and most concise attempts but don't spend too much time tweaking. Just get something done. Then go round improving.

In my opinion it is possible.
