I hope that people check rather than assume that one is cheaper than the other. Sometimes (at least in my case), for less money, you can get more cover, and that can only be a good thing for the customer.0

I did - break it down...
GoldyR says
"young drivers are saying that they are the 'main user' of a vehicle," - this is true
This is not true."when it in fact belongs to their parents" - ownershhip is not an issue and this is unnecessary
This is true"& they are the 'main user'" - with "they" meaning the parents - so the parents are the main users
This is trueSo young drivers are claiming to be the main user of the vehicle when in actual fact their parents are and the parents are the main users.
I've never yet met a young person who claims to be the main user of a vehicle when it is actually their parents who are the main users.
What I have seen on numerous occasions is where the young person claims that their parents are the main users when in actual fact the young person is.GoldyR is actually correct in this post even if the wording is poor.
The wording is poor and is also wrong.0 -
Hi first of all congratulations on passing your test! i passed my test nearly 3 years ago but didnt get a car until 8 months after. I got a fiat seicento 900cc and put my dad on the insurance to bring it down i went third party fire and theft it was £997 for the year. Then in the november after buying the car in august i wrote it off as someone pulled out on me luckily it was their fault ive bought another car since and had it 2 years in february your best looking on auto-trader for a cheap run around if your only using it for shopping ect then put the mileage to about 7k which is what ive done on my new car after 2 years ncb its £327 third party fire and theft. Ive just ordered a brand new car a 2 litre sport vw eos worth 26k the insurance is £771 fully comp. its best to go third party fire and theft until you get your ncb up and then go full comp
i hope this is the right advice

It's definitely wrth checking the prices either way. You don't know unless you ask0 -
Yeh....you're right....the bad wording had me so confused i got mixed up aswell.
Thankfully I'm an old codger of 35 with max NCB so can insure pretty much any car i want without having to worry about this type of thing!
Well spotted!

I was beginning to think I had missed something as well.Thankfully I'm an old codger of 35 with max NCB so can insure pretty much any car i want without having to worry about this type of thing!
I'm an even older "old codger" with nearly 35 years of driving and max NCB. However it's something I have had to worry about for the last 6 years with two sons now aged 21 & 23.0
