Sixt Car Hire/Loss Damage Waiver/Car hire excess insurance

I have hired a car in california.

the reservation email says that it includes the below:

Loss Damage Waiver (including theft protection) with minimum deductible
Loss Damage Waiver
Supplemental Liability Insurance
Loss Damage Waiver with an excess of 0.00 USD
Theft Protection with an excess of 0.00 USD

I am struggling to find out whether i need any other type of insurance like some form of car hire excess insurance?

I will definitely get my own travel insurance for medical/injury stuff, but specifically for the car hire, do i need any further insurance?

USA car hire booked from the UK has insurance included.
Though you might want to check if windscreen, tyres etc are covered.

Supplemental Liability Insurance. It is mandatory to have this insurance when renting in the U.S.A

The rest are clearly labelled as waivers

You need SLI/LIS in the U.S.A. That is insurance.

The minimum required in each state is included. Sometimes as low as US$20,000. One can boost it to US$1,000,000 with an additional policy.

i'm even more confused now by some of the responses...sorry!

My order says i have loss damage waiver and theft protection.

Does this cover me for damage in case of accident or otherwise? and how much coverage does it offer? will i have to pay an excess of any amount?

what is the difference between a waiver and insurance?

You are covered, to a certain extent. Cannot tell you how much SLI coverage you have. The minimum is US$15,000, so I would guess US$20,000.
Tyres, windscreen, undercarriage, lost keys etc might not be covered.

Buying a separate insurance policy, pushes that up to US$1,000,000 and adds coverage for tyres, windscreens. lost keys etc

Most people just go with the included coverage and take their chances. Most don't have any problems. Have never read about a negative experience with coverage in the USA on these forums.
Personally I always have an annual policy that covers everything, including CDW, SLI.
Worldwide cover including CDW & SLI costs from £6.29 per day to £92.99 per annum.
