Two of these mounted centrally on the wall above the headboard.
My own mantra is 'If you can see the bulb, you have got it wrong'
Lighting should be up-lighting,or directional down lighting that others cannot see.
Kindle paper white allows both to read without any lighting.0 -

I had considered a number of lamps including similar ones to those in the link, though I think they're particularly unsightly.
Which is why I had thought about setting two 11cm downlights flush into the ceiling so the light sources are not especially visible.0 -
Can you get daylight bulbs/LED's for the fittings that you are considering?
As you want the lights for reading, these would give far better clarity.0 -

Cool white is bad for sleep, though. I stayed at a hotel with cool white LED reading lamps recently and it felt very harsh and unpleasant.0 -
Depending on the height of the bed, I suspect they won't be any good for what you want them for. Far too wide a spread, even taking into account the fact they pivot.
Think of map lights in cars and reading lights on planes. They're far dimmer, have much narrower spread and are a damn sight closer.0 -

Yes .0 -
We've got pendant fittings at either side of our bed. Hang lower than a regular pendant. Much better than lamps.0

Aye; cool white is fine for offices and maybe some kitchens, but bloody awful in the home - not remotely relaxing.0 -
There were spotlights in the ceiling in our bedroom of the house we've just moved into. They are very odd in a bedroom. We took them out and had the ceiling reboarded and replastered at great expense.Make £2025 in 2025
