Contact your insurers. You'll usually need a cancellation document to prove that the holiday has been cancelled and how much it cost as well as any refund if due. Often insurance claim forms have a page that your GP needs to complete and sign. You then need to return completed claim form with cancellation document to the insurers.

As long as you weren't waiting for tests, results etc and you declared any pre existing conditions you should be covered in line with the policy terms, less any excess on the policy.

Was it Jet2Holidays own insurance? If so the policy only covers £750 for cancellation so hope the holiday was no more than that per person. There is also a £200 excess.

What an idiotic comment. The OP has just been diagnosed with cancer, is it any surprise they may not be thinking too clearly and asking for help?

I'm going to be charitable & hope that bradder's comment was a comment akin to 'bl00dy hell, what (insert what ever word you want to) news.

I'm pretty sure it was meant in that way.
    I had a similar reaction.

Also sending the OP good wishes with the surgery and anything else medical that is required.

And I hope the insurers don't drag their feet in paying out.

Get the ball rolling with your cancellation with Jet2 as I’m sure you will have to submit paperwork to your insurance company.

I can’t advise on the actual process after that but I wish you well with your treatment and a full recovery

When I had to cancel because my mother died suddenly, Bales asked me to email them as I would get a % back automatically.

I then claimed on the insurance for the rest

Hope your treatment goes well, Hig, then you can enjoy a holiday.
