  • Why did you go with Clydesdale?

They were doing a 26 month interest free on purchases and a 12 month on transfers.

Just reading between the lines from what you've written - if you took out the card - and almost instantly tried to buy an iphone (expensive electrical item - maybe most of your credit limit?) - you might have fallen into the 'it might be a fraud' transaction - and got declined as a result. It has been known that people sign up for credit cards - buy iphones - then run away. Although of course you are perfectly entitled to buy whatever you want with your own card - because it wasn't in your 'normal' pattern of purchases - it might have been flagged - but then they could have told you that once you'd verified it was you, as you did.

Clydesdale are appalling. we have business credit cards with them and I swear 75% of our transactions get flagged as fraud. We have to call them at least once a fortnight to tell them it's not fraud. And yes, it's normal for a business to book a flight to America.
