My next venture abroad without my parents was in May 1973 for 6 months. A paid holiday, Flying the Flag in the Far East onboard HMS TIGER, a helicopter Cruiser of Her Majesty's Grey Funnel Line.....I set off still a boy, I returned a Man!0 -
Gran Canaria when I was 16 so in 1987. I worked full time in a nursing home and had a great wage every month as no tax to pay when you first started working. I went with the cook who was 19. It was a fab holiday.
I had been to Brittany on a school trip when I was 12

School trips, then my best friend found a package trip to Turkey & her sister didn't fancy it so I got taken. Just after A levels so mid 80s & apparently the pair of us (thought to be sisters) rated half a million camels. Our fathers, in stereo, demanded to know why had we come back?0
