Kids Club Type Holidays

Options
Hi all, already thinking ahead to next year's holidays. We want a beach holiday in somewhere like Spain/France - not too much of a long flight from Southern UK - where our will-be 2 year old and 6 year old can be sent away to do kids club activities. Not for the whole of the holiday but just so me and wife can relax for a little bit. Last year's holiday arranged by TUI was sold as having a kids club but required wife or I to stay with our son at all times and tbh wasn't much of a break!

So has anyone got any experience of a holiday company where you can sign kids in for the afternoon and you don't need to be with them constantly? We had this on a p&o cruise a couple of years ago but we can't afford a cruise at the moment.

Thanks

I'm surprised that TUI sold you a holiday that said it had kids club and it actually didn't. Which hotel was it?

We complained to them and put in a complaint via Resolver but nothing came of it. The hotel was https://en.granoasisresort.com/

A TUI staff member specifically advised there were childcare facilities like you would get on a P&O cruise where you can leave children for several hours at a time. We felt we were missold but it's our word against theirs and they threw it out... Needless to say we don't feel we'd ever use TUI again.

What did it say in the TUI brochure, or their online description of hotel ?

Most kids clubs don't take kids under 4 and as a rule of thumb they do tend to be the more quality hotels therefore more expensive that do take them. Although about 15 years ago we went to the trio of hotels in Alcudia, The Saturno, Jupiter and the Club Mac Marte which i paid £29 before i went to guarantee 3 or 4 afternoon sessions in the nursery section. Are you sure you can't afford a P+O cruise as some of the cruises have the 3rd and 4th passenger go for £1 each and also they have onboard credit offers on at the moment.

That’s all I picked up on.

I agree with other posters, in that we have come across very few resorts that take children under the age of 4 for unaccompanied sessions. However, they are out there but you usually pay a fair amount for the resort as well as additional session fees for creche facilities, e.g. First Choice offer paid for, pre-bookable creche facilities at their ‘Holiday Villages, for 3-35 month olds - other operators such as thomas cook will also offer similar things at their equivalent resorts.

If you read hotel specific descriptions of kids club facilities, none of them will allow a 2 year old to particpate.

A six year old is a different scenario in a supervised club.

Would you want to leave a 2 year kid unaccompanied ?

Yes absolutely - in the right environment. We'e perfectly happy to leave her now as a 14 month old one day a week at nursery. As long as the company has the right accreditation, training, security measures then why not? For a few hours here and there I don't see the issue whatsoever. Probably safer than sending her to our grandparents for the afternoon :rotfl:

    First Choice

"Up to three two-hour sessions a day..." - this looks perfect, thank you.

I wouldn't let one mix up in communication put you off TUI. I've booked plenty of times with them and had no issues.

Like yourself, I have 2 young-ish children and always look for some sort of kids club/kids entertainment where we stay. From experience, places won't advertise it as 'kids club' unless you can leave your child. Like this one, they advertise it as 'mini club' or 'childrens activities'. These are usually the ones where it's your responsibility to look after your child. Like what has been stated, kids clubs are usually ages 4-11 though so generally speaking you won't find one for a 2 year old.
