How can I kill off tree stumps please

As title really, I had some trees cut down and now the stumps have branches / twigs spouting out of them again. I don't want them growing and would like to get rid. They are hardwood trees. Any advice please

I've just cut down a large fig tree and want to kill the stumps.
I've bought something called Ecoplug Max which contains Glyphosate. It is contained in a plug that is inserted in a hole drilled in the stump. You can even buy a special drill bit but I don't think it's
really necessary. plenty available on ebay.
