This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
It is already very hot here, we are forecast to get record temperatures today and people have been asked not to travel on the railway because they are expecting major disruption because of the heat. I am going to spend the day keeping cool in the house. Much as I enjoy being out in the sunshine I think it will be too hot for me out today.
I had a good day yesterday and managed to get in some people watching in a couple of cafes and sitting on the prom.
Dinner will be something with salad, either fish or a chicken portion whatever is nearest the top of the freezer.
Have as good a day as you can everyone x0 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Holly. Glad you got out yesterday.
It's fine and sunny here, as it seems to be everywhere, and I've been awake since ridiculous o' clock.
I finally got up at about 5.30, and it was nearly 20degrees outside then.
I'm going to card making this afternoon, I've forgotten what we are supposed to be doing though - at the end of the session our "leader" tells us what we'll do next time so we can take the appropriate materials, but it must have gone in one ear and out the other.
I've been going through, fabric, books and clothes, so have several bags of stuff to get rid of. I didn't mean to go through my fabric, but DD had asked me if I had any black out lining, and that started me off sorting and tidying the cupboard (didn't find any blackout lining).
We went to Du*elm yesterday on a curtain hunt and DH spotted some in the sale which were just what I wanted, so I spent less then I'd anticipated, always a nice feeling!!
Today I'll just be diddling around as well as going to card making.
Speky, your office sounds horrendous, keep drinking plenty of water in case you get dehydrated.
Hope everyone has an ok day in this heat.
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all, thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.
I've not been sleeping much but there's nothing wrong, it is just hot at night. Today I got up and it is just right here at the back of the house, with the window open. It will be hot this side this afternoon.
I need to do some paperwork today, house jobs can wait until it is a bit cooler.
The antibiotics for my infected tooth are starting to work, I think, with the inevitable effect on my insides. I shan't dwell, you can imagine.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly, pleased to hear you enjoyed your time people watching yesterday.
It's already very hot here. We are going to stay at home today and try and keep cool. Plenty of ice cream in the freezer so we should be okay. Some thing and salad tonight, no cooking.
Thinking of all those finding life difficult at the moment and our absent friends, anyone heard from OL?If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning all
Lovely day here already and record temps are due ! will have to let the clients sit down early again today as it will be too much in the kitchen again. Make sure you are all drinking lots of water.
Honey chilli chicken out of the PON book tonight not had it before so will report back tomorrow not sure what to do it with as its a bit hot for rice, I might do a cold rice salad.
Washing to do tonight and a sweep through downstairs.
Please take care in the heat today its meant to be a scorcher xx
Edited to say I took a cold water bottle to bed (half filled with cold water then frozen), it worked a treat I was much cooler last night.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. As promised it was hard sleeping last night! We are forecast a high of 33 deg here and I am just thankful I don't live in London where 39 deg is forecast!! I already have the fan blowing in the kitchen.
DGD and DD were VERY late back from the theatre last night (11.15) DD had really enjoyed Les Mis but, as I expected, DGD had found it a bit beyond her. It only got an OK from her! I don't expect to see her up any time soon after the late night.
It's shopping morning and DS will be coming to take me - with DGDs in tow. We'll stick to Aldi as it's nearer and will get round and back home poste haste. I seem to have quite a long list this week and I expect a few treats will find their way into the trolley too! I got stocked up with ice creams, lollies etc from the freezer shop in town t'other day.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need, carers and our absent friends. OL and NELS hope you are ok. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone.
It's very warm here as well.
Off to make a start on plum pies before it gets any warmer.
Holly, we like people watching as well.
Try to keep cool.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
Beano has been walked already, no other plans apart from trying to keep cool.
Have a good day everyone .

Good morning,
I hope we're all prepared for today's weather, which is anticipated to be one of the hottest in this heatwave.
Yesterday was super warm. Uncomfortably so in our office. We finished at 6 and met with our new colleague for a pizza and a beer. I'm told it's to go on expenses, which would be nice as I think the night cost me about £30-£40 all in. Home around 11ish and straight to bed knackered.
Since my spends should be going on expenses, I'll count it as a NSD, making it 14 for the month.
Gym this morning and I might nip in after work before heading home to watch some of the football tonight. Aside from this excitement, I've no plans.
Scarlet - What kind of cards do you make? Cards for hallmark events?
RR - Love the cold water bottle idea, thank you!0 -
Morning everyone
One more 12 hour night shift to go then weekend off. It was really hot on the Central line yesterday and that was after 5pm. Don’t know what it will be like tonight. Going to sleep shortly hopefully, bedroom is already hot, fan on full blast. I hope next doors children aren’t as loud as yesterday but hey ho at least they are happy and playing outside. I remember when mine were little.
No o/s occuring until Friday when I need to catch up with some chores and some gardening.
Enjoy your days and try and keep cool. Redruby I really don’t envy you today
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care0
