How did weight watchers get my new card number?

I cancelled my card and got a new one so weight watchers couldn't take payment. They took payment yesterday on my new card without my permission on new card. How did they get my new card number. I didn't give them my account number. I would cancel but am unable to do this as they want you to cancel by phone and my social anxiety stops me making phone calls.

If it's a credit card then it's probably a CCA, continuous card authority

..Because your new card is linked to your old card.
To cancel the payment you needed to cancel the authority either with the bank or weightwatchers.
Can you get to the branch to cancel?0 -
If I cancel with weight watchers now would they reimburse me my money, I didn't give them permission to continually take money out my account. I thought cancelling dd would stop payments.0

If it is a direct debit then the change of card will not affect that, as the arrangement is set up your bank account rather than a card transaction. If you have cancelled the DD but it got paid then you can apply to your bank for a refund under the DD guarantee.0

Just to add - I am sure you could cancel your WW subscription via e-mail rather than the phone, if that is easier.0

It is best to cancel your CPA (Continuous Payment Authority) with both your bank and Weight Watchers, in writing, via Royal Mail. Then you have a paper trail...I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

If it's a card payment (via a continuous authority) then cancelling and replacing the card doesn't prevent companies authorised to take payments from continuing to do so. If it's actually a Direct Debit then cancelling your card wouldn't have any effect either, but for a different reason.
Either way, you need to cancel your contract via WW asap in order to sort this out....0 -
CPA.
You need to contact WW and tell them to cancel your sub.
As for refunds - it’s highly unlikely.
Did you really cancel your card on the basis of this WW sub?0 -
Cancelling the WW membership seems straight forward:To cancel, please visit the “Help” section on the website or apps and look for the cancellation information. Follow the steps to cancel. Your cancellation will take effect within seventy two (72) hours from receipt of your cancellation notice. If you cancel near the end of your billing period and are inadvertently charged for the next period’s fee, please contact our customer services team to have the charged reversed.0
