Bosch Rotak Lawnmower Belt Tensioner issue

Hi,
My lawnmower stopped working as the belt tensioner and belt drive had snapped. I've purchased a new drive belt tensioner but the spring on the tensioner keeps catching on the plastic spinning wheel above it.
It only seems to fit in one way, so not sure why this is happening. Do i need the coiled spring on this tensioner?
Any advice would be great
TIA.

I suspect that you haven't got the tensioner spring positioned correctly. It should hook around something, and actually apply tension to the belt via the wheel. I don't know details of that type of machine though, that's just how they generally work.
The spring is obviously needed for that.
Is there anything on YouTube?0 -
Yeah it hooks on pretty straight forward. I've looked at a few youtube vids and it only seems to fix on one way. It seems a pretty straightforward fit but for some reason mine keeps catching. Ive tried it without the spring and it still works fine but obviously it's on there for a reason.0

Have you got the belt run right?
Have you got the tensioner rotated "over centre" on the belt so it's actually applying tension. In other words is it "wound up" far enough.
As I say I don't know that machine, but some of them in general can be very difficult to get the belt on correctly.0 -
Yeah, it was slotted over the centre and there's a groove in the compartment for the tensioner to slot into so can't put it in incorrectly. Then you slot the white plastic wheel of the mower over this and it locks in place and is lined up with the screw hole so it is definitley in the correct position.0

Just one final thought.
It is the correct part?0 -
I was thinking similarly. Bosch bits are often a good price direct from Bosch and you get the genuine article and they are pretthy good at advice and service too. Though not cheap!
Rotak is a good machine and there is obviously something amiss. Give Bosch a call and ask about it!0 -
Yeah i was thinking it might just be the part, as everything is in the correct place
Thanks for the advice anyway0
