Up to you, but nine out of ten such tickets are a scam. Read this
IMO, PE signs leave much to be desired. I doubt that many judges would agree that they are capable of forming a contract, read this

and enlist the support of your MP as they are obviously trying to scam you.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Did you buy a ticket for the car park? or was you chancing it“You’re only here for a short visit.

The car was parked. Fact. Don't go appealing on the basis it wasn't. There are plenty of other angles to attack the charge.0

Read the newbies thread and send the blue appeal don't reveal the driver, your appeal will fail then win at POPLA hopefully if you do it right.
But your urban myth own parking rules do not over ride the landowners; sitting in a parked car car is still parked!
Also if you have stupidly used your own name as a forum name get it changed now.0 -
Anyone know how I should appeal. I am willing to pay say a £20 fine as it was only 12 mins and we did not realise it was a not allowed to wait there. Changed the name now!! I don’t know what you mean by a blue appeal. We weren’t chancing it we was not aware we weren’t allowed. It was a place with a few spaces at the end of a street. We don’t usually go. We usually park in the indoor car park for £1. But it’s far from the bank and it’s a long way to carry a sleeping 3 year old. We usually have a spare buggy but we was taking him home so thought we wouldn’t need it!!!0

any so called "fine" , actually its INVOICE will be set by the parking company, not you , which is a £100 charge , reduced to £60 for early payment
the appeal in blue text is in post #1 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread, third thread down from the top of this forum
appeal as keeper
what happened on the day is largely irrelevant, so no blabbing
in future, tell the driver to stop "chancing it" , because with cameras and sometimes parking attendants you have no chance of winning based on chances , these companies eat chancers for breakfast0 -
Why do people use private car parks to nip to a shop?
Why not stop on street where you are unlikely to get any fine (unless it's London)?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
