Neighbours buzzing hot tub keeps putting off buyers

It could be an extra incentive if the neighbour would be happy to invite people over for a session in the hot tub. Hot tub and champagne (or Prosecco seeing as we are all careful with our money here) is my idea of bliss.
Tried that once, the smell of the chemicals put me off my Prosecco. It's like sitting in a sheep dip!!!
Maybe because that was in a holiday let, do you use less chemicals in a private one??
If the hot-tub was near the master bedroom window, the humming would put me off, but no so much if only heard in the garden. Screaming kids are much worse (that high pitched happy squeal girls make....argh!!!)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
If cheap practical solutions aren’t received well then is it likely that the neighbour will entertain going out of their way to facilitate tranquil viewings.....
That's when more expensive practical solutions might be considered, like installing a s/h hot tub of one's own.
I'll admit, I have no idea how much that might cost, but there's always a cheap, half-worn and rubbishy version of everything.0 -
Interestingly we were told our hot tub would help sell our property as it was considered aspirational and sells a certain lifestyle, that was about 10 years ago though and we are large detached so not that close to next door.
To some maybe but I would consider it a negative and would factor in the hassle and/or cost of removing it when I put in an offer.0 -
Like “are you aware of any issues/disputes with your neighbour or neighbours property”
How would you advise the OP to answer that one having made the viewing tranquil?
If I timed viewings to avoid, say, rush hour traffic on the road outside, do you think I'd be obliged to disclose that the road is busy at rush hour?0 -

There are 3 options, chlorine, bromine and aquasafe90 that is a marine algae and more natural. I use aquasafe as My skin reacts to chemicals and it doesn’t smell.
We don’t hear ours but we sleep over the other side of the house.
You can also set the timings so that the filter cycle wouldn’t come on at night when it’s quiet although the heating would still kick in on a Thermostat.
I think some are better insulated than others and the cheaper ones don’t have the best noise insulation.0 -
You keep on using the word "issues" but I'm not sure where you're getting it from as it's not in the standard enquiries. It doesn't sound like the OP is having a "dispute" with the neighbours. Being able to hear the neighbours is pretty standard. A house having some sort of level of background noise from elsewhere is pretty standard.

The difference is this noise goes on intermitently 24 hours a day which isn't standard or something most people would be happy with, nor is it something which would be apparent from a simple viewing if the hot tub happened to be switched off at the time.0 -

Personally I would expect fluctuating traffic levels to be A normal feature.
This buzzing is not normal household noise, is on for long periods and is permanent.
As I said if it couldn’t be fixed I’d be consulting my conveyancing solicitor, but I wouldn’t be deliberately trying to mislead people.
If the OP notifies the neighbour of an issue and the neighbour refuses to help and they reach deadlock over the noise issue then that may be dispute territory. As I said I’d ask a conveyancing solicitor if i was unsure, but I wouldn’t lie.0 -

I’d happily remove (or take a lower offer) if I was selling, but I’m the seller and not the neighbour so have control over it. It’s the neighbours who don’t have that control.0 -
Maybe post a link of your house?
Hot tubs smell when they are dirty - Chlorine smell is dead chlorine.0 -
