  • Well done getting yours to eat tesco own! I've now switched to burns after trying the freebie sample they gave me! Cats loved it but the bad news (which I havent told them yet!) is that its meant to be small measured amounts as its got more good stuff than normal! Have mixed it with normal food and will reduce it gently! Watch this space! Well done on the reducing spending & remember Rome wasnt built in a day!!

Oh dear Falady, i dunno if you should beat yourself up over one can of diet coke! Quite frankly life would be worth living otherwise!

    Hi everyone,

Well the broadband is still not working at home, so just a quick post from work before I get going for the day.

CEx didn't want my phone - they said the mic was very quiet. I don't see there's any problem with it, and its just the same as its always been, so i'm going to try and sell it on ebay. OH has said I can use his ebay and paypal account as I'm having problems sorting out my paypal, so that's a good start. I just need to work out how to get photoes of items from the camera onto the laptop now!

The cats ignoted the tescos dried food, but then wolfed down the tescos tinned food this morning becuase they were hungry! Hmm. Press on! They'll just have to get used it - at least £15 of this months shopping budget has gone on cat food, so if I'm eating more cheaply, so can they! :D

    Speak soon,

    Hi all,

    Again,

Just another quickie. I had a chinese takeaway last night (£11  but will do for 2 meals) which was a bit of an extravagance. I went to the pub with some friends, but becuase I drove, didn't have to buy any drinks, so that was a free night out. Maybe one kind of balances out the other......

Have puit a few things on ebay and had a bit of interest, so that's good. Better that thannthe stuff clogging up my spare room!

I also got a flyer through the door last night for someone who buys 2nd hand books, so i'm going to give him a ring and see whether he might be tnerested in some of my books. Any ideas what is reasonable price to expect? Eg for a £6.99 paperback, read once and in very good condition? I was thinking maybe £3 - £4?? Not a clue really - any ideas very welcome. It would save the hassle of selling them on ebay / amazon anyway!

I'm off to see the old dears for the weekend , so probably won't be contributing much for a few days.

    See you all soon!

    Ali xx

  • I would sell your books on amazon, as long as you sell at the cheapest price it is worth it and you will always make on postage... I doubt you will get more than £1 from any private business buyer for second hand paperback books.

amazon is better than ebay as you don't need a pic or anything and synopsis etc is done by Amazon already.

Have a nice weekend with the oldies!

  • Just thought I'd my little bit about what I fee my cat. I give her Iams which I know a lot of people seem to be against, but I'm not quite sure why  . I might try her on something different once the 3 big bags I bought for 1/2 price a couple of months ago are up cos it would be nice to save money.

I used to slow cook a value chicken for her, then pull it apart and freeze it in little pots. Then take one out in the morning ready for the evening. This used to last 2 weeks and a value chicken was £2.50 (or something like that). But she started getting fat and the vet told me to stick to cat food.

see link about why I think people feel uncomfortable...after comments made by someone else on here I've investigated & wont be using Iams again; I could only watch for a minute - awful...hopefully they'll stick to burns now which is much better! Fingers crossed!

  • my cats will only eat dried food, and, the only damn kind they will eat is Purina One which is a nightmare cause its not the easiest to find and costs about £4 a week which feeds two. I too mix in whiskas or go cat dried but they always leave it till last and they only eat it after they have meiwed at me for hours and then i lock them in the kitchen for an hour LOL.

Occassionally they will get tuna which is always half a tin watered down loads but since i use cheap tuna, its not got the pull ring on the top so everytime i get the can opener out for anything they run through and are in at my feet, knocking me over whilst i try to get my value BEANS into a pan. Then, they dont speak to me all night!!

  • I think I would put down a few beans for them, or a spoon of soup or whatever. They would soon learn that the tin opener doesn't always mean tuna! Although admittedly, my cat decided he quite liked sweetcorn....
