Having said that, I put him back on his favourites as soon as I could afford to. I am going to end up as a sad old lady with cats as a substitute for children. I should feel ashamed or worried by this, but I don't :p

I think its said that i worry how my baby boy (cat!) would feel if i had a child, i love him so much i can't imagine loving a child more! :p

Mind you he does get Tesco own dry food and Lidl cat biscuits so hes not spoilt, he eats that and then his sisters left overs so hes not fussy either!

I do love my baby girl too but can't help having a special bond with my boy, probably because he was badly injured when he as a few months old (long story!)

Hope you get your cats into the moneysaving way Falady! :)

    Hi everyone,

Well I'm back online (at work) after the internet at home stopped working for no apparent reason. Will have to get OH to have a look at it - I think he can do some sort of 'remote takeover' of my laptop from Oz. Its all a bit nifty, but being engaged to an IT professional / techie geek has its advantages!

Well, over the weekend, i was prretty good spending wise. I bought myself a belt (£8), a puzzle book (£1.29) and some disposable razors (1.69). All within budget set for the month. I also relented and went to asda for some wine (3 bottles for £10) and ended buying a tomatoes and coleslaw for lunches this week, diet coke (3 large bottles for £3 - its my downfall), plus some whoopised cakes and a few other bits and bobs. The grand total was about £23, but then there was discounts on both the wine and coke, which took about £6 off. I'd also put all my change from my moneybox into the 'coinstar' machine and got £6.72 out of that. Anyway, the final bill was about £11, so not too bad!

I'm quite pleased with how my DFW journey is going. i know I've only been doing it a week, but i feel like I'm on the right path, and I have spent less so far than my budget allows, so it will be a really good month and I should see the reduction in my debt.

    Hi all,

Just a quick post to say hello.

I fed the wee beasties (cats!) tescos premium dried food last night - they ignored it. I have left it there for them this morning. Your contributions have made me stalwart - its tescos food or nothing! I need to get them some more tinned food in a few days, and as they are getting fed up with whiskas fish flavours, it seems the perfect opportunity to try them with some cheaper food. They hate sainsburys own, but i might try getting a few different cans of different makes and flavours to see if there is one they will eat. Wish me luck!!

    Hi all,

Well, I had my lightbulb moment a couple of days ago, and have been formulating a (cunning) plan...... ;)

I'm not sure how I can moneysave feeding 3 cats (one of which is very greedy!) as they won't eat anything except whiskas or felix or leftover fish and chicken. Any ideas welcome!

Hmmmmm...... not sure about this one barnaby bear - the wee beasties are a bit too keen on the local wildlife already!

We had one dopey starling a month or so ago that got caught three times in the same week. I recused it twice, but the last time I unfortunately didn't get to it in time, and it ended up dead with blood and s**t spread all over my newly decorated kitchen and hall  :rotfl: I wasn't laughing at the time mind you, esp as the in laws (to be) were due round in 10 mins for tea! Luckily they helped me clear up the mess and saw i was a bit 'frazzled'!

After reading this cat food diary/thread i happenned to look on the back of the pack and see that the average cat is supposed to eat 4 pouches of cat food a day! I put down 1 or sometimes 2 pouches between 2 cats daily, supplemented by a bowl of biscuits! They are by no means skinny and are healthy cats, so should i be worried! I'm guessing they are eating mice etc too!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

    Hi Maz,

I think the 4 pouches per day is if that's all they have. I wouldn't worry if they have cat biscuits too! As long as the cat biscuits are also a 'complete food' they will be getting all the nutrients they need. They'll soon tell you if they're hungry!

We give ours dry food and wet food (1-2 tins whiskas daily between 3 cats, plus a couple of small handfuls of whiskas dry food each morning and night) as i like them to have a choice, but hey ho, they might have to get used the the cheap stuff!

    Hi all,

Well, I had to buy more cat food last night, and have bought them some katkins and tescos own brand tinned food. They ate the tescos dried food in the end (no choice), so perseverance helps! I also mixed in a little bit of the whiskas dried food which fooled them i think! (thank you for that tip!)

Anyway, I have been doing well with spending this week too. Got a couple of xmas presents (quite expensive, but agreed with OH spend from the joint account). That's all the christimas shopping done now. The only people we've spent a lot on (about £40 each) is OH's parents. Family presents have come from JA, but in future I might suggest to OH that we spend less, or he contributes more to their presents.

I couldn't resist a can of diet coke yesterday (50p), but justified it to myself that I have been really good making a packed lunch everyday and not getting cabs. I feel like if I deny myself all small pleasures for the next 3 years, i'm just going to be miserable and not stick with it!

The packed lunches and walking more have also helped me to lose weight, which I want to do. I was 12 stone when i came back from australia on 11th November (too much holiday eating!!), and would like to get below 11 stone by the time I go for my final wedding dress fitting in May. Weighed myself last night and was 11 stone 11 pounds, so have lost 3 pounds. :-)

Anyway, better get on with the day.

I've signed up with ebay, but am struggling setting up a paypal account.... I will persevere!
