Hi all

As mentioned, has anyone had success getting Openreach to install their master socket in the loft ?

Thanks

No , easiest point nearest where line comes into property.

They won't be climbing in lofts to install

Just out of interest why do you want it in the loft?

In our house (New build 2006) the phone line comes into the (easily accessible) loft.
It then goes down the telephone cables, that our electrician had installed during first fix, to the ground floor where the master socket is situated.

My experience is they don't mind working in the loft too much if they it is well boarded and lit, and the homeowner accompanies them to show them what's where and where to tread, though their rules forbid it (for obvious reasons). I've had them up there drawing cables through and installing junction boxes, but never a master socket.

It would be ugly to have a cable dropped down my house.

I’m fed up with paying VM approx £26 for broadband when I could get it for more like £19 with Openreach. But I don’t want ugly cables dropped down my wall.

Seems that you just have to take a punt though.

The engineer who installed a box for us recently would have put it where we wanted it but didn't have enough cable to do so. The box is not where I wanted it but we're switching soon so we'll just get rid of it afterwards.

Ours is in the loft, closest point to where the phone line reaches the house.
