American Express Travel (agency)

I've spotted that American Express has their own travel agency, and, though I wouldn't consider it if self-directed bookings were significantly cheaper, I like that I earn 3x as many points for any spend through their agency.


All information I find on Google is America-focused; is there anyone here (UK-based) who has had positive/negative experiences of using Amex Travel?

My understanding is that their travel services are targeted at American Express card holders. Some levels of cards have dedicated travel teams and concierge type services. Service standards are reportedly very good, especially if a premium black card holder.

You will however be disappointed if you are expecting them to complete with the shonky OTA’s to offer you cheap flights. That’s not their business model, instead more a quality support service for their premium card holders.

I booked flights with them when there was a cashback offer on my Amex card for purchases with them, they were fine. They are more expensive than any other OTA, which is why they can afford to give you 3x points.

Thank you both. I think I will always cross-check their prices with Skyscanner if booking in future, but it is tempting to dream of earning enough reward points to convert into upgrades on-board my flights.
