Has CEL added a fake amount in their claim ..... such as and extra £60 ????
The original charge was £100, but by the time it's gone round to debt collectors to solicitors and back to CEL, the outstanding debt is now £182 - according to CEL.

The NEWBIES is up to date so yes, you should still follow the advice there.

Have you contacted the gym manager and told them since a court claim has now been issued you require the contact details of the person who will be attending court as a witness?

Have you complained to your MP yet about this unregulated scam?

Have you left negative feedback on the gym's website and/or social media?
I contacted the Gym Manager earlier on after unsuccessful POPLA appeal - she said it was beyond their control, it's from head office etc. It might be worth contacting them as you have mentioned above, but will they be my witness or CEL's witness, I'm not sure? Or what are they witnessing?
No, I haven't complained to MP yet or Gym's website and social media....I might consider that too.

You are playing a game. Telling the gym someone will need to appear in court may jolt them into action.
You can ask someone to attend as your witness in accordance with PART 33 - MISCELLANEOUS RULES ABOUT EVIDENCE of the Civil Courts Procedure Rules and Practice Direction. Again, quoting that may make then sit up and take notice.

If the gym won't help, don't consider using social media. Use everything in your arsenal.
I married my cousin. I had to...

Take into account £25 court cost and £50 legal fee they must show what the extra is

and the SAR should be emailed to their DPO , not post a letter

email it with an atatchment containing a copy of the V5C or 2 recent but redacted letters with your name , address on date on them , like utility bills etc, as proof of your I D under the GDPR

the figures they say are due are just made up figures , not real , at the moment its still at £100 due to non payment, any court fees may be added if they issue a court claim, which they havent done yet

Write to them with your current address by first class post, get a free certificate of posting.  If you fail to do so you could get a CCJ by default.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Unless you are *very* confident that you can react to a court claim within 5 days of it being received, having them NOT know your current address is utterly foolish and serves no purpose whatsoever.
