Renting out underground parking space

If the woman comes crawling back after realising £40 a month is a bargain, then it's no chance, they missed their chance.0

Sue I think it's clear you've been undercharging for this. You have costs for it as well, inflation has severely eroded your previous rent, even £60/month would only be £2 a day for a secure dry convenient guaranteed space. I would suggest you amend your notice board advert to that effect so that when "entitled woman" comes back having realised she was foolish, you can rent it at an appropriate cost, £35 20 years ago is about £70 now accounting for inflation.0

I remember watching a programme years ago about an artist. If anyone tried to haggle the price down he would increase the price by that amount. No argument, that’s the new price. If the woman comes crawling back after realising £40 a month is a bargain, then it's no chance, they missed their chance.0 -
Thanks again Folks. Norman you made me smile! Sue0

I know Harrogate pretty well, think I can guess approximately which area you refer to. Yes £40/month is a bargain. Guests can use a 2 hour free parking permit, but for the hassle of long term parking, owning / having access to a space is very useful. Parking around the Stray can be a nightmare Mon to Sun.
You own the space and paid for it so have every right to utilise it as you see fit including rent it out for what is a fantastic price (it could fetch double that price possibly). Never feel guilty for making the right decision and thinking ahead all those years ago.
Go on enjoy the sunshine.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Also think it's a bargain. I rent mine out in a popular area where it's impossible to park but still find not many rent it as they'd rather drive round for an hour looking for a space and moaning about there not being any lol.
I bet she comes crawling back, probably with a slightly lower offer of something like £30pm. Personally, I would stick to your guns. You're underselling it anyway and in no way greedy, deluded or ambitious!

Do make it clear that your price isn't permanently fixed and will increase as time progresses due to inflation etc. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

If you know Harrogate I live at Christ Church..There is limited parking here
My Daughter has said she has a cheek. I don't care if it sits empty forever.
As I have communicated on this forum I have become stronger.. I am very grateful for the support you have given me. Sue0 -
Susan, you are such a nice lady! £40 is very cheap, but you realise that now.0

Thank you all. This Daughter made me feel like a bad person. I could not let my garage space for very little as it would have a knock on effect for the other 19 people who own a parking space. I didn't care much for the Daughter when I met her a few weeks ago. She wanted to take a reading of the electricity meter. She also wanted to take a reading of the water meters. I have no idea where the one for this building. She
was very abrupt and not particularly pleasant. I don't have to deal.with her and in any case.
I do have one very good friend here. She tells me that I am too soft. Maybe I am but we are what we are.
I moved here 2;years after my husband died in 1996..Was not particularly looking to buy a retirement apartment but this was on the market and I loved it. I have a beautiful view of the Stray. What really drew me here was my 2 wonderful Grandchildren. They are now 23 and 21. I adore my life here and not for one minute do I regret it. Thank you all for making me feel better about myself.
