If there really are spaces on the street then probably £40 per month is expensive.

That depends how much you rate security and convenience. They cost £10 000 for a reason.

We rented a garage for forty pounds a month fifteen years ago in a place where parking is not as difficult as in Harrogate. Perfectly reasonable price.

Do you know how much other owners are charging for their spaces? Ask a local EA the cost of renting a space/garage in your area and base it on that. If people were happy to pay you £40/50 a month in the past, there's no reason to change your business model to suit a cheapskate who can't appreciate security and being able to exit their vehicle in the dry.

Thank you all for confirming that in your opinion I am not being unreasonable. I came off the phone feeling upset as the Daughter made me feel that I was money grabbing. Her Mother won't find it easy to get parked outside the complex. There is very little space out in the street and as my Daughter says good luck to her parking in the street.

The couple who contacted me before I moved here had asked the manager and she called me and asked if she could give them my phone no. I moved in on the Friday and they rang me on Sunday to ask if I would go over to sort it out. They were desperate as they had their car damaged in the street. I know that I rent my space for less than other people but I am not wanting to make a lot of money out of other people.
And you aren't, you were askinga reasonable price.
The lady who has been using it had paid the rent for this month but at the end of the month. I will put a notice on the board to let people know. If it does not rent I am not too bothered but I am not going to be bullied and that is what it felt like.

We have got 4 visitor parking places in the courtyard and 5 visitors parking places in the garage. These can not be used by residents.
    Thanks again. Sue

Stick to your plan and offer it for £40 per month to the next person who asks.

If this womans daughter doesn't think that it was a fair deal to keep her mothers car securely parked then more fool her.

Make sure she does not try and sneak her car and park there for free either.

    Are you declaring the income?

No need to. As per the MSE page on this topic.

That's not new.........JustPark and others have been doing it for a while.

Many flat owners have to purchase a space in the underground as well as their home. Why would you let a stranger have it for nothing, in my view

If you did accept a ridiculously low price, I can see you having to argue with future renters who somehow got to hear what she'd paid this time, and thereby giving you grief, so don't consider it even for a moment.

But as the OP says, spaces are hard to find and cars have been vandalised; it's just that the new would-be renter is too new to know this
