Some Clarity on 'excess data' threads
This thread relates to cellular data usage only.
Hiya,
So I was looking at all of the threads from people stating 'I did not use data' etc. and thought that the image attached may help explain. If you look at the picture this shows the heaviest data usage from a group of mobiles. If you look at the bottom you will see 'Non web data'.
What's clear is the impact that non web data (cellular NOT WIFI) has to you and your data usage.
So CELLULAR Non Web Data is things such as:
iMessage/ Facetime
What'sapp
Telegraph
Some (not all) Spotify accounts
VPN usage
Certain streaming apps
Peer to Peer
Gambling sites that use secure connections
(feel free to add to this list)

I use a number of those on Wifi .Your image does not mention cellular usage .
I just find your OP confusing as to its actual meaning and what you are trying to say to those that dont understand what data is nor how they pay for data on a mobile network .0 -

I am confused too.
Why some? If a mobile provider gives free access to Spotify, then this depends on the privider/plan, not on the type of the account.
The same. Why 'certain'?
Why only secure?
OK I will explain one, the rest is down to you to discover using the interwebs.
Spotify - Vodafone - Uses a VPN connection therefore avoids being seen as web traffic (cellular), but only on retail contracts.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
